The Music Industry

Proverb:25:20: As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.

And that's what I believe.

ESV swaps he two ideas to make the verse a bit more clear. My guess is that Solomon was getting at the notion that songs about greif causing things are just as self defeating as taking your clothes off when it's 10 below.

Am I getting you right, Ronnie?

I get two ideas from this scripture. One is that a person that would sing an empathetic song to you in a time of your depression is also the type that will take advantage of you, i.e. take your clothes in the cold weather. The second idea that I get is that this same person that will take advantage of your grief is also a distasteful person, i.e vinegar upon nitre.

I was reminded of James 2:15-16: If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?

We need to meet peoples real needs, not just sing some uplifting song to them.

(Boy, could I ever go off on some of the "happyhappypraisepraise" worship services so poplar today based on this. But, that would be off topic, so I won't. :halo )

What do you mean? :confused
Seeker friendly music, Ronnie.

We should be careful. Taking advantage of people seeking Jesus Christ is satan's business.

Eze:28:13: Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

Ahhh...I see now. Thanks for that. I think we could really take to heart his: (thanks Dora)

And to add, if you say you will pray for someone, actually DO IT. And KEEP doing it, otherwise you are lying to their face and to God when you say you will pray for them.
Just came to mind.
