Has anybody seen it?

I have heard that it is much darker than the original. I really liked the first one with Gene Wilder or Gene Simmons or Richard Simmons or whatever his name was.

I didn't think it was darker. I thought it was a pretty good movie. When I saw the trailers for it awhile back I couldn't help but notice the Willy Wonka/Michael Jackson voice comparisions. However, while watching the movie it didn't seem so as much, either that or I just forgot. Depp's an awesome actor. I like the dark "touch" Tim Burton puts on movies but I didn't think this movie was an overly good example of it. Batman Returns, Sleepy Hollow & Beetlejuice are better examples of it.

As for rating this movie, I'd give it a B/B+. It was entertaining but it really doesn't have that draw that makes you want to see it again soon, well unless you're a kid I guess.
