666 is the numerical representation of the 6 vials, 6 trumps, and 6 seals mentioned in Revelation. It's my interpretation (and I always advise anyone to read for yourself and not let me or any other person tell you what to believe) that this is when this antichrist comes. His number is 666 because he will come at when the 6th vial, 6th trump, and 6th seal are done. 777 being when Christ comes since seven is a holy number and the final of the vials, trumps, and seals.

As for the mark, that one is open to interpretation. I think it represents some form of identification in the latter days. Given the world's move towards global systems such as credit and biometrics - the system being under control is certainly plausible.

I'm with George on this. We've talked about this in the past. I have believed for a while now that it have something to do with this Torah commandment:

Deu 6:2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged....
... Deu 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
Deu 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Deu 6:6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:...
...Deu 6:8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
