When my second son was fifteen months. I had just placed him in the bedroom. Before I realised he had pulled down a hot beverage on his head. I screamed like only a mother could. My neighbour came to my aid and another neighbour came with me to the hospital.
I remember that incident as if it were yesterday. My husband was studying in England at the time. My son was kept in the hospital for three weeks. I visited the hospital everyday for three weeks. I wrote my husband and told him what happened. I could not see the emotion on his face. He return from his studies in a year's time. The scars were still there and he realise how awful it was.
At the time, what was just as painful was the negative statements made by some of my Christian friends. Some said if I had been living in the USA I would have been charged with negligence, others said that I was careless. Nevertheless I ignored those comments. All mothers know that toddlers can be a handful.
For those who have small children, please be extra careful. A burn is so different form a wound. Infection sets in easily with a burn.
I pray for that mother who ran back into the house thinking that the children were inside. Only a mother would do anything to save her children, even running into a burning house.
I have experience pain but on a smaller level than the one this mother experience. My heart goes out to her family and young children.
What would you do if you thought your children were in a burning house, I am sure you would do what she did too. A mother's love IS UNIQUE.
