There are many negative impacts resulting from the mere opportunity presented by free will. Our earthly existence, at its core, is an obstacle course, and the challenge of gaining eternal life. We must prove ourselves eligible for the ultimate promise of our creator.
The results are final, with major damming consequences for failure. Every single human entered a race for his present finite existence, to be the first to get to the egg and the beginning of this life we all value. Since we were only one part of who we are, there is no recollection of this, as expected. We are all then winners, though it’s only one part of what the creator has planned for us. Getting here was our first victory. But to get there from here means we must all win again. Life, everlasting life, eternal life, are all the same thing, and was the core massage of the Christ. He absolutely wanted us to know what we would gain or lose.
One damming pitfall of free will is that some would have heard, but remain unawares they are in a race for their existence until it becomes too late. Free will is a powerful separator, allowing us to choose even to our eternal deaths. Billions will come to this pitiful reality, that they belong solely to the receiver death when they could have chosen life. There are no do overs. No second chance.
To duly exercise our free will, means also that we will not be unduly influenced. Faith becomes a big part of everything. There shall be no absolute proofs. Often from our human perspectives, life is all but a game of chance; good and bad things regularly happen to ‘bad people’ and the same with the ‘good people.’ It is a broad pit in which to fall, judging life is all about the effort that we put into it. Until we take time to look with eyes that have become wise open.
Our religious cultures often determine our beliefs, making us subtle products of our social environment. Even so, free will places the responsibility squarely on each individual, “whosoever will let him come.†The apostle Paul, said, “he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him,†adding that it is significantly a matter of faith. The gift of an eternal existence belongs solely to those who have heard God’s promise and have risen to the challenge by faith in his existence.
A long running crevasse of free will is that the great deceiver knows we are heavily handicapped by the very gift that is free will. He knows our eternal life quest is riddled with its pitfalls. He knows if the human is to win, he must first traverse the obstacles he presents, and the reason the creator allows him to be still here.
Next time, we will close the topic by examining some of the common privileges of free will.
