The Powers That Be

The Texas clowns appear to be placing more and more obstacles in our path to get the property taxes down. We don't have the $6k they want. The electric usage continues to climb. The electric bill in an empty house in Houston is set to surpass our electric bill here. We are now looking at returning to Texas by summer. I wanted to stay here and actively promote my book as Hawaiians are big in supporting locals. In Houston, I'll be wasting my time. If we can't get the property tax exemptions by summer then we go back. Our son has agreed to cover the electric bill for now. He is ready to go back immediately.

the situation given Texas and the storms is whacky .

even if they could force you to pay the several grand for fuel usage ,the average time to get it would have them out of business.

Yep. We would go back sooner, but we'll give the rigged process a go to see if they grant the exemptions and we'll wait for the "whacky" to settle down first. We keep an eye on the local Houston news regarding electric/water/food/crime/job market. We figure by summer things will somewhat normalize.

I'm all for derugalation of power monopolies ,but that was deceptive .

I'm not into that bit well price gouging laws I have issues with .
