The Privileges of Free will

Free will is that special opportunity granted to a unique specie, namely us humans. It comes packaged in a long life, ample time allowing life’s broad experiences to nudge us in the path we should follow, if only we would listen. Some do, and are awaiting the eternal promise from an eternal creator, to transition from mortality into immortality. Deep within the human subliminal awareness, and for millenniums, he has been curiously desirous of this. With death knocking at our doors, it becomes vividly clear how enormously precious our lives are, though we often take it for granted. Many find after their near-death experience a higher purpose for living.

These are the privileges allied to our free will: a chance to change course, remedy mistakes, become enlightened, or even to move on to other misguided debacles. The eternal life challenge is a long, enduring reality unfolding, though sometimes the journey is cut short by unforeseen or unexpected tragedies. Gone too soon, some then say, though a painful reminder of the obscurity that comes with death, and the insurmountable fragility of our limitable existence.

Woven into the very essence of our free will is the powerful subsidy of forgiveness. How privileged are we to have fallen short of the reward of an everlasting life, only to be forgiven. Time after time a benevolent creator has cleaned our slates of countless sordid transgressions; rape, even murder, and many other atrocities resulting in cruel human tragedies. Imagine, the murdered died, though not in Christ, but the murderer lives to claim victory and the promise of immortality. This is a favor rooted within the extreme benevolence of a patient and merciful God, allowing us every opportunity to win.

Whatever our human experience, our desire to drink at the fountain of youth commands that we, at least, explore the likelihood that our planet was seeded with life, by a divine creator, for a day of harvesting and the sweet spoils of an eternal existence. Then we become sons and daughters of God, immortals, and the conquerors of death. 1 Corinthians 15:55 “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?â€

The invaluable privileges of free will are worthy of our deep consideration, to lend meaning to the precepts of God, and hopefully, to the reason why we were created.

No greater love than the gift of immortality to the human. But we must earn it, if not then we perish into obscurity. The sting of death will be us knowing we could have chosen to live, but had been deceived into forfeiting this phenomenal opportunity.
