Hey why not...
The Bible is God's revelation of Himself and His plans to reconcile His creation (us) to Him. :yes
The hows and whys are in the details. ;)

Did you know that we will be judged by some of those words in Scripture on the last day? God authorized the writing of Scripture at Mount Sinai after the largest theophany in the history of mankind, and while still at Sinai God promised a prophet to come who would speak God's words to His people. When Jesus, the prophet, came he said that he personally would not judge us but rather the words which he spoke in the Father's name (the words in the Gospels) would stand as our judges on the last day, and that we also will be judged by the words of Moses (read the Gospel of John). Here we have an ultimate unification and dovetailing significance of the enduring words of both the Old and New Testaments. They are not just words by which we may live by, they are also words by which we will be judged, whether for good or bad.

It seems to me the purpose is to encourage and to equip us as followers of Christ.
Defend and proclaim the Gospel in all the earth. I agree with the other things said. I was just quoting a few scriptures. What do you think we are being equipped to do?
I don't think 'friends' is the right word. He is God and we are his creation. I don't know of friends that worship friends.A loving God creates us and wants us to be his friends. Right?

I think we are his friends, since I believe Jesus and the Father are one:I don't think 'friends' is the right word. He is God and we are his creation. I don't know of friends that worship friends.
Hmm, good answer.
I think we are his friends, since I believe Jesus and the Father are one:
[14] You are my friends if you do what I command you.
[15] No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. John 15 14-15 RSV
I don't think 'friends' is the right word. He is God and we are his creation. I don't know of friends that worship friends.
