The Raelians...

As I stated in my introductory post some of my friends have some "out there" beliefs, a good friend of mine was agnostic when I met him and I recently with the help of the Holy Spirit proved the existence of Jesus Christ to him using some historical evidence I could dig up, and he has since embraced the Bible... to an odd conclusion

He believes that Jesus Christ... was an alien, no I'm not kidding he actually believes this. While he does not subscribe to the Raelian Cult(at least to my face) his belief is essentially the same as theirs. If you've never heard of the Raelians CARM has a good description of them HERE. If you're not going to read all of that then I'll give you a basic breakdown, a man who later changed his name to "Rael" at the request of the alien overlords had an encounter with these overlords where they took him into their spacecraft and explained all of the mysteries of the Bible to him, they told him that he would become an ambassador for these aliens for when we become ready to meet them, and they instructed him to build an Embassy in Jerusalem(which he is currently doing) where they will land to greet him and the world, the promises of "eternal life" in the Bible will be fulfilled through cloning of the body and transferring of the mind, if however we do not progress as far as they hope we will become slaves to the other 3 planets they are cultivating(if we do progress enough the 3 planets will become our slaves). They claim that Jesus was actually an immortal alien and he couldn't die and his purpose was to bring peace and unity to Earth to speed along our progression since the other planets were far ahead of us. That isn't exactly what my friend believes but it's close enough to call it the difference between WELS and LCMS if you all get that.

I tossed him Matthew 10:34 ESV and that seemed to shake his belief in this quite a bit, but can you guys think of any other way to refute this well constructed(I only say this because as CARM points out, "how do you prove there isn't a spaceship behind that comet?") Antichristian heresy?

Brother, I don’t even attempt to justify irrational faith thinking of things not seen being the evidence of books written to them with imagination. When they deny God, all manner of illusion is forthcoming.
I should also tell you I didn’t read the book. :)

I was also at CARM long enough to see the heresy and amount of ungodly attacks upon Christianity without moderation; at least in my opinion. They were becoming somewhat like Yahoo (I don’t know if they are still around) and witnessing became like casting pearls. There are many there that wait to trample the things of God underfoot seemingly at every opportunity.
Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

I will say with Paul that I am glad Christ is preached.
Php 1:15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
Php 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

My thoughts.

Talked to him again, I got it wrong. The Raelian are closest to what he believed that I could find, but he actually believed the Annunaki came and enslaved the world and forced it to mine gold. Once I figured that out it actually wasn't that hard to discredit because the entire belief is peppered with blatant lies, as soon as I pointed out to him some parts where the perpetrators of this theory not only dismissed archaeological evidence but changed what words meant on Sumerian Tablets to prove their point, he dismissed the theory as hocus.

I don't know, and I don't want to know. When I really dig into these wacked up theories I get a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach like I'm having the Antichrist himself over for coffee and tea. Apparently this theory gained widespread popularity due to the TV show "Ancient Aliens" :eek

Most of the show is a blatant lie with a mild foundation in the truth, but here's what I showed him that really got him to think twice, sorry if it doesn't post I'm having a weird time adjusting to this style of forum and I messed up the CARM link. http://ancientaliensdebunked.com/references-and-transcripts/anunnaki/

Lots of stuff in there but its worth a good read, I learned a bunch of stuff about the ancient Sumerian culture and religion and its relation to Hebrew tradition.

I know a guy who acturaly believes in the philosophers stone. He believes the alien elite powers in this world hold a real philosophers stone and it can do miracles, even turn anything it wants into gold.
