Katholikos means, general or universal. Aristotle used it as thus, "catholic rule," meaning general. Polybius wrote, "catholic pronouncement," meaning universally.

Ignatius wrote, "Wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the catholic church."

What are the marks of the church as found in the Bible?

  • Worship, 1 Cor. 14:24-25. The spiritual nature of worship, John 4:24.

    Priestly service, Rom. 1:9, 12:1.

Reverence or fear of God, 1 Tim. 2:10, 5:4. II Pet. 1:3, 3:11.

Instruction and teaching of the people, 2 Tim. 3:16-17, 4:6-16.

    Fellowship, Acts 2:42, 4:24-31, 12:5, Phil. 1:3-4, Rom. 15:26, II Cor. 9:13.

    Ministry, Acts 8:4, 11:19-20, 16:31, 17:12.

    Organization, Acts 14:23, Titus 1:5

    Ordinaces, Acts 2:14, 1 Cor. 11:23-24.

This is what I think, what do you think?

God bless,
Jason
PS: This is not a cut and paste.

Well, anyone what to add?

The Church is one (Rom 12:5, 1 Cor. 10:17, 1 Cor 12:13)
The Church is holy (Eph. 5:25–27, Rev. 19:7–8)
The Church is apostolic (Eph. 2:19–20)
The Church is catholic (/universal) (Matt. 28:19–20, Rev. 5:9–10)
