Paul teaches.....
WOW. :o What did Paul just teach?
In God's great house, among those that love God and "nameth the name of Christ," or are Christian....we will find souls of gold and silver as well as...those of wood and earth. Why? Because the wood and earth dishonour God's house. They have fallen into "the snare of the devil." They love Christ but have been taken captive by the deceiver! To become vessels of honour they must purge themselves to become "meet for the Master's use," and again be used for "every good work."
These vessels of wood and earth are God's and "the Lord knoweth them," but nevertheless they are to "depart from iniquity" and then they will be vessels of gold and silver. What is the iniquity in this lesson? What is the dishonour brought upon God's great house? Paul tells us....
So, we pray that God will give all of us "repentance to the acknowledging of the truth," for it is His to give. But, in order to receive it will we purge ourselves by acknowledging truth? There are many truths we must acknowledge but here it is one truth in question and it concerns those that say "the resurrection is past already."
- 11 Timothy 2:16-18 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymeanaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurection is past already, and overthrow the faith of some.
2:19-20 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the Master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
2:23-26 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive: but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at His will.
