The Script "Breakeven"

handy

One of my more favorite non-Christian pop songs out there is the bluesy, "Breakeven" by The Script. What can I say...it's a sad, break up song...everyone needs a sad break up song sooner or later, right?

Anyway, for those who might not know the song, the lyrics (in part) go:

I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing
Just praying to a God that I don't believe in
'Cause I got time while she got freedom
'Cause when a heart breaks no it don't break even

So...yesterday, Viola and I were traveling along, listening to the radio and this song comes on.

Viola was in a somewhat sour mood, due to some last minute grief a kid at her (thankfully) old school gave her, so instead of singing along like she usually does...she added commentary.

So, now I'm driving along, listening to this:

The Script: I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing
Viola: Too bad!
The Script: Just praying to a God that I don't believe in
Viola: Well, there's your problem!
The Script: 'Cause I got time while she got freedom
Viola: Want freedom, start believing in God.
The Script: 'Cause when a heart breaks no it don't break even
Viola: Suck it up and deal with it or quit yer whining!

:lol

My fiance said that same thing when we were in the car the other day. He was like, whoa, did he just say praying to a God that I don't believe in?? I never really noticed that's what was said in the song until a few days ago. Strange!
