The Testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy and the spirit of prophecy is....

Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, "See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

The spirit of prophecy is....the testimony of Jesus!

Mark 9:11-13 And they asked Him, saying, "why say the scribes that Elias must first come?" And He answered and told them, "Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that He must suffer many things, and be set at nought. But I say unto you, that Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him."

And who is Elias/Elijah who has "indeed come?"

Luke 1:17 And he (John the Baptist) shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the LORD."

Malachi 4:5-6 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."

Elias the prophet comes in the spirit and power or.....in the spirit of prophecy ( the Word ) or...Elias is the testimony of Jesus Christ. And....He, The Word, that Testimony, has indeed come.

Matthew 11:12-15 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by FORCE. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

How can the violent take the kingdom of heaven by force and what does that have to do with the spirit of prophecy....Elias?

Luke 17:20-21 And when He was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, 'Lo, here!' or, 'lo there!' for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

The kingdom of God is within us....IF....we receive the spirit of Elias, IF we receive the testimony of Jesus Christ. And, as we live in His kingdom NOW, for His kingdom is here NOW in us, then...the violent (will/are/have been) trying to take us by force. This is so :shocked :shocked! . What does "force" mean?

#726 Force - harpazo; to seize (in various applications)P: - catch (away, up), pluck, pull, take (by force).

Where do we hear the word "harpazo" used? RAPTURE DOCTRINE!!! The kingdom of heaven (us) suffer violence as the violent take us by force....by teaching the rapture doctrine.

Matthew 17:10-13 And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?" And Jesus answered and said unto them, "Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them." Then the disciples understood that He spake unto them of John the Baptist.

But...were the disciples correct in their understanding?

Luke 1:19-21 And this is the record of John, (John the Baptist) when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who art thou?" And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, "I am not the Christ." And they asked him, "What then? Art thou Elias?" And he saith, "I am not." "Art thou that prophet?" And he answered , "No."

Elias has "come already," in the testimony of Jesus and....they knew him not. They twist that Word or "have done unto him whatsoever they listed." False doctrine, false teaching...deception, deception, deception! :grumpy

Whirlwind,

Some valuable Scriptures to go with your post.

1 Tim 4:14
14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. NKJV

2 Tim 1:6-7
6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
NKJV

Some church institutions have very rigid ideas as to how this operates in the body of Jesus.

As "the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy," I would agree...it is TRUTH. :yes

Numbers 11:29 ... would God that all the LORD's people were prophets,
and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them! KJV

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh;
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams,
your young men shall see visions: KJV

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing,
but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. KJV

I believe that anyone and everyone who is translated from this life and it's earthliness,
without a natural death/decay to the flesh, will be a TRUE PROPHET of God!

Hi there WW!!

So your references to Elias/Elijah - this is the friend of the Bridegroom - this is also called "The Best Man" in our Western Wedding ceremonies.

And the title, "The Spirit of Prophecy is ???
Answer - "The spirit of the Prophet is subject to the prophet."
This gift is given without repentance. Be care - many false.

  • To the true: "Do not drop words as they drop."
To all: "Do not my words do good to the one who walks upright?"

Mic 2:11 If a man walks with wind, and he lies in deceit, saying, I will drop words to you for wine and for fermented drink, he shall even be a dropper of words for this people.

Hab 2:14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah, as the waters* cover the sea.
Hab 2:15 Woe to him who causes his friend to drink, joining with your bottle, and also making him drunk, so as to look upon their nakedness!

Yes? The Lord hedges in both in front and behind. Elsewise the lawless. Who can behold the "fountain" and "tree" and know from there springs eternity and not run forward propelling themselves into destruction? It is the Lord that restrains any yet he that preventeth shall not for all in all time. What is said of the saints? Hmmmm.... trying to remember the word - begins with a "P" but isn't "Prudence" - old man mind here, goes like this, 'The prudence of the saints shall preserve them" - maybe patience? When the Angel with the fiery sword stands down there will be one who runs footloose and fancy free to his own destruction - this one will stand and show himself being God.

Patience of the saints that preserves? I think maybe yes. Easy to prove yea or nay though. It is the fear of the Lord that is the beginning of wisdom - what then of a certain Terror? Return question for thee - what is "that which prevents" ? I'm not binding my lips at the moment - just a fireside chat amongst family members - much less formal. Help me to say, pls?

Nice subject matter, dear one.
