What do you think of the tenure of a Pastor? I know in Baptist denominations, a Pastor's tenure at a Church averages 3-4 years. Do you think this is good or bad?

I don't completely believe the churches of today are the model of what God intended as far as the role of the Pastor. But they are what they are and with that said: I think as long as the pastor is preaching truth and the church is spiritually healthy and bearing godly fruit then he should stay until he hears from God otherwise.
There should be elders who hold the pastor accountable and they too should love the Lord and His truth above all else.

I agree about the elders, destiny. I would say if one has the gift to be a pastor in the church, then his whole life, as long as he is part of that body, shoud be spent edifying the church in this way. If God leads him elsewhere, then he should go.

I think that the reason that so many pastors move to another church after 3 or 4 years is because they realize that their congregation doesn't want to move forward. At least it's that way in the Bible Belt. Alot of churches hire a pastor because he has great vision and credentials, and everything is peachy for the first year and 1/2 or so. But sooner or later the attitudes come out and those members who are leaders often don't like for things to change.

Amen, Though our church isn't perfect, it's the biblical model we use.

our church gets a new pastor like every 3-5 years...and everytime that pastor goes...its sad.. but then again it brings excitement about how a new pastor can make our church go forward if we were ever in a stalemate situation
