The Thread For Artists

Just wondering, is there a reason you feel you don't improve as much when you draw fan art? I find with me it helps because I can practice drawing what I see, usually people. I have not done much fan art though. I did draw a creepy alien from Doctor Who awhile back and want to work on more Doctor Who art.

Rachel: Would you like to keep the option open of going to art school also?

Blessings.

Yeah, unless the fanart involves drawing things that I need practice on anyway, IMO it's not much help. Also because I would need to fill up a porfolio with original work in order to get into art school.
That said, I have a lot of fun with fanart, and it's so tempting to draw it anyway sometimes. I have folders dedicated to fanart in my gallery. Just the ones that I've drawn a lot of fanart for.

I hope that goes really well for you! I need to get more original art done as well, but for my shop idea.

No, I am not planning on going to any type of collage. I am teaching myself though, and there are a lot of books and videos that can help.
