Im currently reading a book called 'Jesus a prophet of Islam' by Muhammad Ataur -Rahim which deals with the trinity and has a large section on prominent Unitarian christians, or 'heretics' as they are otherwise lovingly known. This question was raised by thomas emelyn (1603-1714):

Speaking of the day of judgement jesus says, 'Of the day knows no man, no , not even the angels of heaven, not the son but the father only'.

Emelyn observed that for anyone who believed in the divinity of jesus this statement would imply that god has two natures, or two different states of awareness simultaneously. It would put him in the ridiculous position of knowing and not knowing at the same time.

another way to raise this same question is to ask: was jesus the son AND the father at the same time?

Are the Father and the Son the same person ?

First of all, if you consider yourself ONE in Christ, by ONE Spirit, as found in Jn.17:21-22 and 1 Cor.12:12-13, it is fully a spiritual relationship - not physical. Can you as ONE of the BODY of Christ, as a hypothetical question, know that when you believe/receive Christ as Lord, He gives/baptizes you with the Holy Spirit instantly [Mt.3:11]. and another believer doesn't know that? Yet you are both members of ONE BODY, through ONE SPIRIT.

Jesus said, 'of the day and the hour, He did not know, only the Father knows.' [Mt.24:36, paraphrased]. Was He God? The Father said He is, in Ps.45:6-7, Isa.7:14 and again in Heb.1:8-9. If God says Jesus is God, do any of us have any questions?

The Father and the Son are not the same person, but rather, as all fathers and sons, from Adam to this very day, they are always two persons. A good example of that is found in the epistle where the apostles all greet both the Father and Jesus, the Son.

Blessings,

Quasar

Fathers and sons are different BEINGS. If they are not 2 different beings, they are not a father and son. Such a prospect would render the terms father and son meaningless.

In those greetings it is the Father who is identified as God.
