The simple answer to the question; why are we here - would be life. We have been afforded an amazing opportunity, and its forfeiture would be tantamount to the greatest imaginable loss—nothing could be greater. The Christ was quite derisive when he said, “For what is a man profited if he should gain the whole world and lose his own soul?†Matt. 16:21.
The universe, as we know it, is unfolding. However, so much is yet to be discovered—all that we will ultimately find out and the eventual erasure of much of what we already claim to know.
Today, a great deal of what we take for granted: television, computers, cell phone; even airplanes, would have been considered pure magic two thousand years ago. So, let’s envisage two thousand years in the future at today’s pace of scientific development.
Then there is the paranormal—things we just can’t seem to figure out. When we listen to the latest scientific discussion relating to dark matter, or the mind-boggling nature of the sub-atomic world, how much of these weird and mysterious things we call paranormal is actually so?
Peering into the universe for as far as our eyes can see, using the best technology we have, it seems something may have happened some fourteen billion years ago. Yet as recent as the nineteen century, many scientists still believed the Milky Way Galaxy to be the entire universe. Since then we have found hundreds, if not billions of other galaxies out there. What will we find when we have developed the technology to gaze further into space? More and more galaxies, as far as fifty, or even a hundred billion light-years away? Or, will we discover something unspeakably different from what we expect?
Most of our scientific questions will go unanswered in our lifetime. Yet we can draw reasonable conclusions—our own hypothesis. Here is one: There is a form of existence somewhere out there; non-matter, timeless, vacuum-less, possibly multidimensional, that is beyond all our human ability to comprehend. And this ‘existence’ may have created and seeded our planet.
As stated before, since it is impossible to create even one speck of matter from absolutely nothing, then the fact that matter exists, means there must have always been at least one thing. Even if that one thing happens to be something strange and mysteriously impossible to figure out.
But how is this possible, our finite minds seem always to be asking? Yet when we remove the impossibility of deriving matter from nothing, all we are left with is the reality of the eternal presence of something, whatever it shall turn out to be. This is plain, simple, and logical.
Intelligent design seems woven into all facets of our existence—from the universe down to our DNA. So if it is impossible to not have some form of existence, why should it be considered farfetched that a conscious, eternal, existence is beyond the reach of the human species?
Here is a question we should all be asking ourselves. How many hundreds, or thousands, of years in the future before our present artificial intelligence is advanced far enough to derive artificial consciousness? And if we do, what would we call it—life?
In the near future we will examine the unique life-supporting features of our universe and planet, so we can draw our own conclusions on whether we are simply a freak of Mother Nature, or that the planet was seeded with life as the bible purports.
And if it was seeded, as we believe, it was done by a mysterious entity that wants to remain mostly obscured. This is not a theodicy; there is good reason why a Creator would have wanted it so.
Since there is an eternal facet to the very nature of existence—however improbable it may seem. And that the life that we have seems tied to it. If the years that we are given are used wisest, then we could find ourselves qualifying for the ‘eternal-existence’ upgrade that was made available to us. Wow!!
In short, the ultimate secret to the life that we have is the unfathomable opportunity to keep it forever. And the reason we are here, is to prove ourselves as being worthy of an eternal-life upgrade. If not, then we die into obscurity—eternal death—the way we were before we came.
It may have been a great piece of luck when we were born, but it will take wise effort to keep what we had gained—eternally. It’s a sweet, sweet, feeling to know such an achievement is even possible.
Consider this; the world has never had a greater population density. And the word of God has never been more accessible—whatever you may choose him to be. Is this another coincidence—just another random freak of nature?
For many of us, it may be a wise time to start becoming more suspicious about all these ‘too many’ coincidences.
