Some persons here either attend, or know a lot about The Vineyard.

I never heard of it, I would guess because I don't live there.

What is it?
What is the doctrine?
What's different about it?

Or any other information you could furnish.

Thanks!

Thanks Eugene.

I was going to post the article, but I'm worried it might turn into a "let's criticize this Church" campaign.

Like every Church, it has it' good point and some maybe that we all would not agree with.
But what do we all agree on??
As long as we agree on the basics of Christianity.

It's sound very nice.

I can't express how much I like the idea of its wanting to spread the Kingdom.
I believe there's not enough teachng on the Kingdom.

Who knows? Maybe I'll start some blogs on it.
I think it's important for our daily life.

P.S.
From the article I learn that some churches believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are no longer available to us?
Like healing, speaking in tongues, exorcism.
How can this be?
Has God changed?
Some healings have been documented.

What are the gifts of the Holy Spirit?
I think this is a new thread...

God is alive and well and active in all the gifts in our congregation.

No big deal. Most "Christians" criticize us anyway. I think we are too real for them.

Next to Jesus, kingdom is probably what we teach on the most.

I can't remember if you saw my blog on the kingdom.
I have 5 more parts to do.
Will post them in Foundation.

I don't think most Christian's understand that Jesus came to change the world,,,
Not only for the atonement.
I like your church very much for this.

Did you know that thousands of miracles are claimed to have taken place at Lourdes in France,
Physical healings.

About 65 have been verified and confirmed by the Catholic Church which has a very vigorous method.

Yes, God is still working.

Willie,
How is teaching done since there are no sermons?
Bible study?

Revelation 3:20 KJV
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Now comes the hard part. If the kingdom can come in us as individuals, is the gathering the kingdom?

Kingdom of priests royal priesthood.
I Peter 2:9 KJV
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Just because we gather stones together, it does not mean we have living stones.

Just because we see ourself as a living stone, are we?

More than likely the Gentiles are the people.

This gets complicated.

One new man.

Well we tend to see through a glass darkly.

I don't think I really said anything. Over time the truth does arrive.

Who told you there were no sermons, Fran? It's regular church that way. But most Vineyards also have "Small Groups" that meet during the week (usually at houses) where most of the real study goes on.

I reread the link. It made it sound like the sermon was not the central theme, but that the music is.
Is this correct? Then I made the mistake of saying "no sermon" is preachd. I would suppose that one is preached but I don't quite understand how one takes importance away from the sermon and put it on the music...

Love the idea of bible study at someone's house.
Does a defferent person do the lesson every week?

2. Contemporary Worship

Vineyard Churches embrace a contemporary style of worship in their Sunday services.

This style of worship makes contemporary Christian music a central element of the worship service while focusing less on traditional sermons, hymns and prayers — giving it concert-like feel.

A worship leader and band are responsible for selecting songs that will be played during a worship service.

The Kingdom is not the gathering of people.
But it IS a "real" place.

We should do a study on this...

I think that would be a great study.

If we look at the Gospel, first and foremost it is a proclamation that God is reigning. Second to that is salvation. And so the Gospel is about the Kingdom as I understand it anyway.

Absolutely.
Jesus mentions salvation about 5 times.
The Kingdom is mentioned by Him over 100 times.

He meant to change the way we live.

I'll do this...Foundation of Faith.

Whereas, many church services kind of run on a regimented schedule, such as "three songs and a prayer", the average Vineyard would probably have half a dozen songs before moving into the rest of the service. That is the case where I go. And, the sermon, besides being some of the best I have ever heard, our sermons usually last about 45 minutes. The whole service is usually 1 hour and 45 minutes.

BTW, who selects the songs at most churches?

I was in a choir all the years I attended one Church (Nazarene) and in another one but for only a short time.
So my answer is that the music director picks the songs.
This is how it was in both churches.

I think the Lead pastor chooses the music he wants and the Music Director goes along with it or is forced out of the position.
