The Voice Of God

One of the other little oddities of Jesus' life was the amount that He prayed.

Jesus is God... Emmanuel.
Obviously Kinda odd but unique all at the same time.

Having a prayer life is the most important aspect of our Christian walk. When we learn to have a open communication with the Father through His Spirit within us - we are able to hear from Him. Some seek a audio-voice and others who have grown up in the Lord have the understanding that our spiritual man can hear Scriptures being told to us as we pray. This is God speaking to us. He reveals Himself through His Word. Which leads me to my 2nd area of interest. It is just as vital as prayer, and that is to read His Word daily. If we never read His word and we pray and expect answers, how will that be possible because God speaks through His Word. Prayer and Scripture study are the key to hearing an answer from our Lord.

hello Atonement, dirtfarmer here

Prayer is the most powerful thing that God has given to the believer. Many times I hear people saying, " All I can do is pray". What most believers don't understand is that is the first thing that we should do and then trust God (faith) that God will answer. It may not be the answer that we want or were looking for, but we must trust that God knows best.

I also believe that God also speaks to us through our spirit that has been made alive.
Romans 8:16 " The Spirit itself beareth with our spirit, that we are the children of God."

Isn't prayer a form of exercising our faith and trust in the Father? For me at least, I pray because I have faith, I pray because I know I can trust Him, I pray not for answers alone, but for His Will over my life.

Nice to meet you Diet farmer - hope you have a very blessed weekend

With me (and it's different for different people) I can 'hear' in a way that is mysterious to me.

They way I realise that something peculiar is going on comes when I go searching in the Bible for the Word of God on a subject that I've been wondering about. Eventually it dawns on me that it isn't in the Bible. But, I think to myself, what is going on here? I could swear that I remembered this Scripture?!? Nope. I can't find it. Strange.

This has happened to me on more than one occasion. A recent example happened while I was pondering the Word from Jesus, "A man can not serve two masters," and "you will obey the Master to whom you submit your members to."

I was looking for the Scripture where Jesus explained, "Would a country release soldiers after having declared war?" Further, it was my thought there was a direct explanation that followed, "So also will the wicked remain in service to their masters." I suspected that I was paraphrasing my understanding of the Scripture but was totally surprised to not be able to find anything like it in the Bible. I started in the Gospels but went to the Wisdom Books (Proverbs, Psalms, Ecclesiastes and etc.) I even asked Mr. Google to help. No such luck. It was therefore my conclusion that I had just thought that I had read it. Who knows? Maybe I dreamt of reading it in the Bible? Unsure.

But it had the same force as the written Word of Truth (in my mind). I do understand that the Bible is our "more sure word". Yet the word that I heard, "No furlough will be given during wartime," combined with the fact that we fight against 'Principalities and Powers in High Places,' remains with me as true nonetheless. As far as I can tell, it's not the 'Word of God,' but rather from the Father of all Lights and from my Shepherd for which I am thankful.

Exactly, Brother. But since Jesus said, I only do what I see the Father do...what should we do with that? Anything?

Joh_8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.

These Go together.
Joh_5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
Joh_5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

For Us, and Jesus
Joh_16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Just say'in.

Mike.

Mm hmm. Learn sumpin new every day. Thanks Brother...

I agree, God will during the End Times pour out His Spirit on the youth and
"Your Sons And Daughters Will Prophesy" Acts 2:17

I suppose what I was trying to express; reading the Word is critical because 9/10 times God will speak to you from it. It's not the only method that God uses to express Himself to and through us. However, if we neglect reading His Word we are disconnected from God. It's like having a cell phone and you have great service and great communication then the 'elevator' of sin and/or neglect close on you and one finds themselves disconnected from service.

Heb_1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

These last days have been here from some time. The time we watch is in that generation Jesus spoke about. I liked your Cell phone analogy. If the Radio does not work, we don't call the radio station and blame them for no reception.

12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. Romans 6:12-14

I am not equal to The Christ. just saying

It's OK to admit faults I suppose, but at this stage of the Game Reba you best get to working on it.

1Jn_4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

Mat_5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Rom_8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
(Php 2:5-6)

1Co_2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

I am rooting for you of course.

No Mike we are not equal to Christ .. You go to the Cross and save the world then i might believe we can be equal to The Christ ..

Php 3:12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. (ESV)

Jas 3:2 For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. (ESV)

1Jn 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jn 1:10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (ESV)

The idea that we can attain perfection in this life is nowhere to be found in Scripture. Christ was the only sinless, perfect human, as you know. We will be like him one day but not now.

When we see ourselves as perfect, what does that say for our Savior? It says we no longer need Him but the fact remains we do need Him!

My sheep hear my voice. Can you hear the voice of God? I heard it once, no mistaking it. I just knew. How important is it to be able to hear the voice of God?
Jesus didn't say, I only do what I hear the Father say. He said, I only do what I see the Father do. A picture is worth a 1000 words. Do you realize that over half of thew bible is from visions? It's what I heard at least, and it got me to thinking. (Uh-oh)...:confused2 How else could have Moses wrote Genesis? lol. He saw it.
Do you get pictures in your minds eye, when you read books? I do. That's our imagination giving us the pictures. Visions and dreams seems to be a favorite communication of God
Act 2:17
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:.../
That's us, Brothers and Sisters. So while we're waiting to hear God's voice, maybe we should keep in mind that He likes to talk throughpictures and visions. Maybe that's why we're supposed to pray with our eyes closed? :coffee
-

I often pray with my eyes closed, but i talk to the Father with my eyes open.
I do know that if you give an alter call, you should ask the congregation to "close their eyes"< as this puts them in a 1<>1 situation with God.
I also like go outside at night, and talk to the Father, as i feel more connected in this environment.
Also, if you pray while kneeling....if you do this long enough over time, you get really interesting callouses on your knees.
I also do a lot of photography while kneeling as i like to take MACRO photos, (small stuff up close), so, maybe im cheating a bit with the marks on my knees.
Do you ever life up your "holy hands" in praise?
Have you ever wondered why you lift your hands up to the Father?......want to know the significance?
Lifting up your hands, Saint, this symbolic gesture is an act of "submission" to a greater authority and a Higher power.
This is why a COP tells you to "put your hands up":)
Hopefully Cops wont be telling any of you to do that anytime soon...
