What is the difference between the will of God for your life and the plans of God for your life?

Would you please provide me/us with definitions of what you mean by the plans of God as opposed to the will of God? Definitions are important in this kind of discussion and I'm not exactly sure what you are diving at.

Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:6 NLT (What is His will?)
vs.
For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

The context makes it clear that this is addressed to the nation of Israel, yet it is used time and again as something addressed to individual Christians. In fact, Christians are promised PERSECUTION and possible martyrdom.

Seems like Prov 3:6 (NLT) indicates that to seek His will means that God will show us paths of life to follow. There could be some interesting outworkings of this in the lives of various believers.

What is the difference between the will of God for your life and the plans of God for your life?
The will of God for your life is to have faith exclusively in Christ and the Cross, i.e., finished work ("The blood of Jesus"). And to maintain your faith in that only. Romans 3:28 says, "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law."

The plans of God for your life is not a one size fits all. No, it is customized and just your size. What God calls you to do, He empowers you to do. When God calls you He appoints you. And when He appoints you He anoints you. and when He anoints you and you are divinely positioned, nothing can stop you.

My life plan is customized! Psalm 139:16 You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!

My life plan is good! Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

My life plan is guaranteed! 1 Thessalonians 5:24 “The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.”

Some teaching taken from crosswalk.com

This is the day which the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 NKJV

When a Christian faith is exclusively in Christ and the Cross, i.e., finished work ("The blood of Jesus") and maintained only is this, we have great confidence knowing that God has customized the day for us. Rejoice and be glad in this day; knowing no matter what happens to you this day, the LORD made it and He will take care of it.

For you, LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor will you surround him with a shield. Psalm 5:12 NKJV

I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go: I will guide you with my eye. Psalm 32:8 NKJV

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delights in his way. Psalm 37:23 NKJV

Since the Lord is directing our steps, why try to understand everything that happens along the way? Proverbs 20:24 TLB

"Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27"I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes...Ezekiel 36:26-27 NASB

What is the difference between the will of God for your life and the plans of God for your life?

For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
To look on the Son means a Christian who is being saved (sanctification) believes must be by faith in Christ and the Cross only. Anything else is spiritual adultery. The Lord will void your prayers. The Holy Spirit only works in the perimeter of Christ and the Cross.

Do you have biblical evidence for that statement?
And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. (Acts 26:15-18).

This passage illustrates that the will of God and the plans of God are identical.

I would have to conclude the will of God is that all be Spiritually born again and walk in His Spirit and no longer in the flesh as we are now risen with Christ and seek those things from above, John 3:3-6; Romans 10:9,10; Colossians 3.

The plan of God is He working in us and through us to allow the light of Christ to shine through us as a witness of Christ to an evil world that needs Gods salvation by His grace.
