  • Revelation 12:1-2 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. (5) And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne.

The woman is the body of Christ and as she is His body she is also Israel and as we are of His body...we too are of the woman/Israel. She/we are the wife and the church.

On our head is a "crown of twelve stars." Biblical stars are angels so are these twelve stars the angels of the twelve tribes or are they the twelve disciples? My belief is that they are the angels of the tribes for the twelve tribes are Israel. The crown is upon the head and the head of the body of the woman is.....

  • Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and He is the saviour of the body.

Colossians 1:18 And He is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence
.

The woman is "clothed with the sun" and she/we stand upon the moon. What is that saying?

  • Genesis 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: He made the stars also.

1 Thessalonians 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Psalms 18:9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under His feet.

Psalm 91:13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

Malachi 4:3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.

1 Corinthians 15:25 For He must reign, till He hath put all enemies under His feet.

The darkness is...all enemies, the dragon, the young lion....Satan and his workers are darkness. Darkness is represented by the moon which has no light of it's own but reflects light, reflects that of the true Light but it is false.

The lesser of the two great lights....
  • Revelation 12:3-4 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

The moon represents Satan...the lesser of the great lights. The pretender! All prophetic times about Satan are given in months...lunar. So we, as children of the Light, are clothed in Light and we fight against the darkness.

The moon is under the feet of the woman. Satan is trampled under the body of Christ. We, as His witnesses, are His feet. We shall accomplish trampling darkness with His Word.

Hey WW,

Another point of view might be this:

9 Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, “Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me.â€Â
10 So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?†11 And his brothers envied him, but his father kept the matter in mind.

The twelve stars represent the 12 tribes of Revelation. The resurrected 12 tribes.

Paul All things in there order Christ the firtsfruit, then all those who are His...

I believe Jesus is the Christ that comes down first. "And the Lord Himself shall come down (...) and with the trumpet of God (the last trump) and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

We see later down that the dragon was mad and he went after the rest of her offspring.

17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

So for me the woman is New Jerusalem that comes down from God, Paul calls her the mother of us all...

Just my 2 cents sis'.

and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: KJV

    Proverbs 4:19
19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. KJV

Darkness has dominion and power over it's citizens. Likewise, Light has dominion and power over those under it's domain and control! All flesh is under the control and dominion or one or the other.

The "woman" of Rev.12 is definitely about God's Israel. The meaning of the word Israel is put for those who overcome or prevail with God's help. It is His Salvation Plan name.

In Genesis 37, Joseph dreamed a dream that contained those symbols, and his father Jacob understood it was about him and his wife, and his other eleven sons of the 12 tribes of Israel.

The first five verses of Revelation 12 is actually about a timeline summary...

Rev 12:1-5
1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

The woman represents the beginning of God's Salvation Plan that was to come through His Son via being born of woman (about the Seed of the woman, per Gen.3:15).

2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

That's symbolic of the birth of a new age, this world age, set forth to bring Christ's Salvation.

3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

That was about Satan's original rebellion of old, before the foundation of this world. He drew one third of the angels into rebellion with him against God. That beast system of old had only seven crowns. When it was time for this age, the dragon stood ready to try and devour the Seed of the woman, because Christ Jesus was to come through the Seed of the woman, and that's how the devil would be defeated (Heb.2:14). Satan tried several times in the Old Testament to destroy the Seed of the Woman. He tried to mix the Seed up by sending the fallen angels to take wives on earth during Noah's day, but Noah and his family would continue the Seed of the Woman. The devil tried to split up Abram and Sarai when Pharaoh saw Sarai and was ready to take her as his wife (Gen.12). If you look at the many calamities the Seed of the Woman went through prior to Christ being born through Mary, that was the dragon symbolically ready 'for to devour her Child'.

5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne.
(KJV)

This "man child" is our Lord Jesus Christ. The phrase "who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron:" is the only part in all of this that is still yet future. Christ was caught up to God's Throne after His death and resurrection.

So the flow of these verses is to give us a short summary, or timeline history.

Hi Marc, :wave

Yes...I too believe the twelve stars represent the tribes. So she, as "mother of us all," is Israel and is "New Jerusalem" and is....the body of Christ.

Thank you for your

Yes it does. I'm so happy we are under His power. :approve

On another forum one of the posters strongly believes that all sin in us is Satan. It brought to mind the old TV show where Flip Wilson says....The devil made me do it. He certainly approves of our wallowing in sin and he tempt us with them but it is ourselves doing the sinning. It is ourselves alone that will be held responsible.

Thank you for the additional verses. :-)

That was a terrific summary Veteran. Add to it though that as Jesus was indeed The Man Child that Satan has tried to stop from the beginning...the man child of the end of days is Jesus in us. We, the elect, are the man child that will "rule with a rod of iron" and Satan tries to stop us too.

  • Revelation 2:26-29 And he that overcometh, and keepeth My works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of My Father. And I will give him the morning star. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.'

I was a bit shocked this summer when my 8yo granddaughter used the same statement when she was reproved for misbehavior .... The devil made me do it! And I am thinking - where did she get that?

Here are a couple more scriptures that came to my attention last evening and this morning, that give a little more understanding about Satan/devil.

  • Job 26:13
    13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens;
his hand hath formed the crooked serpent. KJV

    Amos 9:3
3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel,
    I will search and take them out thence;
and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea,
thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them: KJV

So, what NATIONS are we talking about?

  • Deuteronomy 7:1
7:1 When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it,
and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites,
and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites,
and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou; KJV

    Proverbs 26:25-26
25 When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abomi-NATIONS in his heart.
26 Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.KJV

    Psalms 12:6
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. KJV

Mark 16:9 & Luke 8:2 (paraphrased)
Jesus cast out seven devils/demons from Mary Magdalene...same as being purified 7 times!

That said, I don't deny a literal cleansing of the physical nations on this earth. The story of Jehu starts in 2Kings 9. God used JEHU to cleanse the land of Israel of Baal worship, in destroying the 'house of Baal'. God rewarded Jehu for his obedience in following the commands of God and extended Jehu's rule with 4 more generations after him to be on the throne of Israel. I believe Jehu is symbolic of what it means, physically to 'rule with a rod of iron' and his reward (5 generations/5-sided star) is symbolized as the 'morning star' of Revelation 2:28.
