The world will end on "2012" bull

:bigfrown This world is NOT going to end on 2012 AD. It is only myth, a man-made guess. Whenever Jesus returns, whoop-ty-doo, does it really honestly matter WHEN? With the way things are headed right now, I'd say yeah things are bad and this world probably aint gonna last another 100 years, probably even sooner, but it doesn't matter. This world is going to burn anyways.

Yeah, but what's strange is how some so-called Christian film companies have made movies mixing Christian doctrine about the end times in with the 2012 pagan Mayan calendar date. One I saw a couple of years ago (can't recall the name) had 5 Christians left on earth to preach to all the non-believers that were left after the final destruction. That's not Biblical at all.

Maybe the only advantage the film makers sought was in using the 2012 Mayan date to scare people into considering coming to Christ Jesus? The non-believers should fear what's coming, but do you think they really care, especially if we as Christ's servants don't care enough to give them warning of the coming destruction upon the whole world?

i agree with this and have considered this. God uses all things and even though the 2012 thing is not true the way they say it in the world, the whole world is noticing that something is very wrong and even many non believers think it is the end of the world with our without this 2012 stuff, it is like everyone just feels it. I believe God can use things that are false to those who heed what is false to move them towards what is true and then he can show them the truth.

i have considered though -not a doctrine just a possiblity just a thought- many cultures point to this 2012 thing and it is astronomically correct. now we know the world cannot end then because we have not even begunt he 7 yr trib yet and 2012 is less than 7 yrs away so it has to be false LOL

BUT what is it is that 2012 points to something that is real, just not the total end of the world? Many times in the word of God there are prophesies that speak of sealing the book until the time of the end. If we compair all those times we find that every one of them is speaking of the period of great tribulation the last 3 1/2 yrs.Now what IF(again just an idea) what is all these pagan cultures can only see too dec 21 2012 becasue that is around when great trib will begin and the Lord had sealed everything beyond that date up for no one to see ( except His prophets) so the pagans and their demon gods were blinded by God from seeing into that time period and knowing anything about what He purposes for that time?

I talked with a lady who did her Masters thesis on the Mayan calendar system a few years ago. I asked how the Mayans looked at the 2012 date. She said the Mayans believed in many earth ages, and that is only the end of this one, that there will be more infinitum, just as there have many in the past.

This earth may last forever, but man's order of things upon it will not, and there's the difference, because Peter compared the end of this world with the end of "the world that then was" in 2 Peter 3. The major difference is this world is to be destroyed by fire (God's consuming fire). The word "elements" in 2 Peter 3:10 actually means a time or 'orderly arrangement', and not this earth literally being destroyed.

The 2012 date may signal the start of the end, but we're not to pay attention to dates, but to the events, times and seasons (wider periods, not a specific day), written in God's Word. Before God's Word was given through Moses, It was written in the stars. The Christian scholar E.W. Bullinger in his work 'The Witness to the Stars' showed that, going back to ancient history for the original names and meanings of the star constellations before paganism corrupted them. The original meanings are associated with Biblical events.

That's all it is, the end of one Mayan age. :yes Nothing to it, unless you are Mayan. :D

Or maybe both are false. ;)

I just seriously doubt and almost garuntee that mankind will not last another hundred years with the way things are going.

Doesn't every generation say this?

I never said I knew for certain. For all I know the world could last yet another couple centries. We might yet visit Mars by the time God comes back, for all we know the world lasts long enough to have world war 7. But I don't think it is likely it will last very much longer. Either way, it doesn't matter. Doom has come to this world.

Well Dark Ages occur periodically throughout History, at the end of every Empire.

We have not seen the full effects of this financial collapse, but the end of the fiscal year is next week.

Might not things start looking very ugly for the whole earth when that tidal wave of quadrillions in debt start to take precedent?

I mean, who's got a quadrillion dollars?

Seeing as the global trade has made us all so close, might the such an event, unprecedented in history, be of notable fame?
