Jesus came to Israel to offer them the kingdom that God had promised to their fathers.
Rom 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
The Lord Jesus preached the law for salvation (Luke 10:25-28). He raised the bar so high that no one could make it:
Mt 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
He even said that the best man born of women (John the baptist) could not make it into the kingdom (Luke 7:28). Matthew, Mark, and Luke are called "gospels" but they contain the gospel of the kingdom and not the gospel of grace. Jesus alluded to the time of faith after the cross and that is recorded in John.
Be careful not to go seeking Christian doctrine from the wrong side of the cross or you may find yourself back under the law.
