Theology of the Body - The power of redemption
Jesus said with regard to divorce "in the beginning it was not so". In the natural state of man and woman there was no sin, no lust or anger or selfish. Adam and Eve were naked in the garden and not ashamed. They recogized the beauty of God's creation and son in eachother his image and likeness which they had been created in. But sin entered in to the equation. Now man was not in control of his passions. Though these passions reflected needs in man they became disordered. Man saw creation as a means to get rather than the gift that it was. The gift was rejected. The woman became an object of desire. Sin entered.
Now Christ came in to the world free of from sin. To redeem the fallen man and restore him to his former glory. Grace entered the wold through his death on the cross. In order for us to recieve this gift of grace that he has given we must recognize the depth of our sin and then repent, calling upon his mercy. Then by grace he heals us. It transforms us from takers to givers. From the served to the servant. In time we become masters of our bodies and minds and root out the sin in the gardens of our hearts. Christ wants to restore us to the natural state and we see his image in us and in others as well. Be open to his grace. Take up your cross daily and follow him. In the cross is the power of redemption!
