Theology without the bible? ....

The Great White Throne Judgement in Rev 20 is after the 1000 years.

Christians have already had a part in first resurrection, second death has no power over them.

Confusing second death with first resurrection is just one bit of confusion which can come from placing the THE in English when it is not there in the Greek.

Would have been easy to put it in Greek if the author wanted it there, right, Oz?

A little breathing mark and an Omicron -and Wallah- "the judgement" - but it is not there, is it?

i will assure you this one thing judgment the judgment however one wants to say it. if a person stands before the white throne judgment seat. there will be no second chance as per the reincarnation the Bible teaches we will be changed in the twinkling of a eye . we also will get glorified bodies . so at the resurrection of the just.it really doesnt matter . William Tyndale died October 6, 1536 for translating the Bible so anyone could read it. burnt at the steak . he changed a few words so as we could understand it..

I know you're trying to be serious but you made me bust a gut with your "steak" typo. It reminded me of a time an admin on a another forum was taking us to task in Revelations and he was trying to explain the bowls judgement but kept repeatedly typoing "Bowels" We all were howling.

I remember trying to honor and impress a Jewish radio personality and tried to say I thought his presentation was insightful. Instead, I used the word inciteful ,,,,,,,ugh...I still blush.
i dont do formal occasions very good. nor is my grammar in posting .i usually speak it as it is dont sweat the small stuff . i am not politically correct .that tends get me in trouble

Same here. I can step on toes easily. I guess because mine were stomped on as a kid.
it happens a rule of thumb i use in preaching K I S S keep it simple stupid. put on a level of understanding. i love what paul wrote
Corinthians 2:3-5 King James Version (KJV)
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

the sooner we realize this the better off we will be. my . or my ' or , will not be in the right spot

I would change only the THE which is not there, and leave it out like the Greek leaves it out.

ONCE he appeared,
ONCE man dies, then judgement after that, then
ONCE he sufferred/was offered

I mean, I like the KJV, but you know only it and NKJV and WEB have the extraneous "the"; about 15 or so versions leave THE out - Like all Greek manuscripts

Don't know what you mean to "make it different for the modern English reader"...

KJV is fine if you take the definite article away in English, it is not there in the Greek

How simple can I say it?

There is ONE ERROR - putting THE where it does not belong in KJV, NKJV, WEB - more than a dozen other English versions leave out the extraneous THE

Anto,

You are correct. There is no definite article, he (to agree with the feminine), krisis (judgement), so it is not referring to the final jugement at the end of the world. That would contradict Scripture.

We receive God's verdict at the moment of death. Death places the soul/spirit in Hades/hell or Paradise/with the Lord.

When I used the words, "make it different for the modern English reader", I referred to the instances where translators need to add extra words for a sentence to make sense in, say, English. We see this especially in tricky verses such as 1 Tim 2:15 and 1 Peter 3:19.

Again, I assert that Hebrews 9:27 does not SHOOT DOWN reincarnation - I do not claim that it establishes it.

Not so. hapax makes it definite that all people die 'once' - the numeral 1. 'After life is done, there is no living it over again a few more times; what awaits each one at death is God's verdict, either acquittal or condemnation' (R C H Lenski 1966. Hebrews. Hendrickson Publishers, p. 319)

•He holds the church as the interpretator of the bible instead of encouraging individual study of the bible. In that way individuals aren't prone to develop wrong interpretations and cherry pick verses to support their already formed views. In his view it's better to study theology, from the rich history, traditions and thinkers of the church; while privite study of the bible is dangerous to Christians.
Most churches give insight into scripture, but there are sects that add or take away from it. These people will not naturally enter into heaven, Its possible to enter based on if it is heresy or not. Paul advises these people to add or take away from scripture with serious caution.
