There Is No Unforgivable Sin For Christians

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.â€Â

(Matthew 12:31)

Matt 12:31-32
Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy [against] the [Holy] Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the [world] to come.

What is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost (Matthew 12:31-32)?

Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

The Jewish leaders just witnessed an amazing miracle of Christ. The Scriptures, of which the Jewish leaders were well acquainted, prophesied that when the Messiah came He would perform many miracles in the power of the Spirit Isaiah 35:5-6 etc. The Jewish leaders claimed that Christ did this and other miracles in the power of the Devil. This was the sin against the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 12 describes a unique time and place among the Jews, the actual committing of this sin requires the presence of the Messiah on earth doing His messianic miracles.

This particular sin cannot be repeated today as described in Matthew 12.

Mark gives an account and explains exactly why this sin was so unforgivable.

Mark 3:28-30 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

In order for the Jews to be saved the Jews had to believe that Jesus was the Messiah.

John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

Today there is no salvation outside of the gospel of Christ.

The Holy Ghost regenerates new believers and this regeneration is not dependent upon our works.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

True born again believers are sealed by the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 1:21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;

2 Corinthians 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Ephesians 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

If born again believers can commit the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Ghost then these words are not true...

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Romans 8:33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Romans 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Romans 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

No true born again believer can commit the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Ghost today...

It is not possible...

False assurances aside, no one is really certain what blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is. One thing that is known is that due reverence and caution is advisable.

All right, that's of that. 8-)

To fill you in, Blaspheme against the Holy Spirit is simply not accepting the Gospel, or, before Christ, the Truth revealed through the Law and the Prophets. Most people don't commit until they have died with out accepting salvation, because it means they have called the Holy Spirit that leads us to salvation a lier. However, some people, like pharaoh and the pharisees, can commit it while they are living. In this case, God knows that this particular person understands the truth and openly defies it. Therefore God knows they won't repent, and they cannot be forgiven.

And your right, Orthodox. Since no one can be sure of the condition of the heart, no one can know if another has committed it. But I can say that if you're worried about it, you have not committed it, because that shows that the fear of the LORD is in you.

Blasphemy agains the Holy Ghost is speaking evil of Him it is not a rejection of Christ.

There is no salvation outside of Christ but the scriptures tell us exactly what the blasphemy of the Holy Ghost is...

Matthew 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils...

...Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.Matthew 12:31

Matthew 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

The Pharisees claimed Jesus had an unclean spirit and cast out devils by Him...

Mark 3:28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:

Mark 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

Mark 3:30 Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

This was a sin that could only be committed during Christ's ministry on earth.

What I said was the rejection of Christ was Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit.

Christ is our salvation.

But it is the Holy Spirit that convinces us of that.

When you reject Christ, you call the Holy Spirit, the LORD Almighty, a lier. You are indeed: speaking evil if Him.

Thus, you have blasphemed the LORD, and you will not be forgiven.

Those verses are not relavent to what exactly blaspheme of the Spirit is.

Christ was in the Trinity and the Trinity in Him. Therefore, all sons that are not pardoned are directly against the Word (Christ) of the Spirit, and thus against the Spirit itself.[/quote]

Shalom Orthodox Christian
If we do not know when we blasphemy against the Holy Spirit then we are in big trouble don't you think?

Yeshua, I don't think Orthodox is wrong. How can we be sure what Christ alluded to when he taught us of this sin? We all can find the relative start, but to be sure of the definition of this sin is just as difficult as being sure about any one doctrine.

However, we all know that as christians, God has given us the ability to seek his truth. While I doubt we will ever know exactly what blaspheme against the Spirit consist of, we have a Bible and a Teacher who examples to follow. If You follow these and seek God's truth, then how could you blaspheme the Spirit. That is why we were taught to Love the Lord with our all. We can discern what God has revealed to us, but to be sure and know 100% what Christ pointed to is not somethingwe can do.

I am not saying that Orthodox is wrong What I am saying is if we do not know when and if we have blaspheme against the Holy Spirit we do have a very big problem according to the Bible and the words of YESHUA

29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.
I know for a fact that this is true and for many years I was so scared to even read the above verse in case I had blasphemed against the Holy Ghost.
