I migrated six trunked radio sites onto new routers and microwave hops all in one day with only one guy helping me. LOTS of driving and some nervous moments, but its done, it's working and the 911 dispatchers don't appear to hate me - so I guess the transition was smooth in their eyes - the eyes that really matter.

Satanism at its finest .

Who told you I was using CISCO routers? :)
Lol.I couldn't climb that easily.you all do that live ? do you power down the other systems to avoid overexposure ?

Hate to bring it up, but your tower might be leaning just a touch.

This is all done at the ethernet level, Jason. No climbing, the climbing was done weeks ago - today was just moving over to the new routers and microwave radios - all done in the shelters.

And that tower (which, I know it does not look it) is 1100 feet tall. My stuff is around 270 feet, just below the white box that is "painted" in the photo.

I don't care when it was climbed, that anyone could scale that thing is a miracle.

I think they should be decorated so as to hide all that hardware. Palm trees do sound nice.
I wanted to see if one not that big could be installed on my property so I'd have a little extra coming in. Apparently I'm within a 1/2 mile of a small plane airport and that disqualifies the install.

1100 ft tall palms might do the trick

I agree. Great skyline view too. Look toward where those towers are and don't see towers. See wonderful palms instead. Makes me think of the beach, wave sounds, birds calling, hot sun, and not a care in the world.

Question what happened in 1892 in St lucie county

Well, THIS time I said it could not be done. That is, that I could not do it.

The old system used an ASA5505 for remote access. The old system's router is still being used but not for anything that requires remote access, so I was able to use it for the new system. Problem is, I don't know how to set up internet access on my router, nor do I have a CLUE how to reconfigure the ASA5505.

Getting my new router going was not all that hard. By afternoon, I was sure I had my router ready for the interface with the ASA. But the ASA5505 was another issue. NO ONE at work knew anything about it.

I had nothing to loose, so I figured being brave would not cost me anything. It not only didn't cost me, it PAID me. It took about two hours, but I successfully added the new subnets of the new network to the ASA - at the last minute, 5:05pm on Thursday, I had access to my system!

I'd emailed my new boss for help, but I didn't know he was in meetings all day. Once I got back to my room, he contacted me - when I told him I figured it out and have it working - his response was, "Well, if you did that without knowing anything about the ASA, and no Cicso training - imagine what you will be doing next year after I get you to CCNA school..."

This was a good week. :)

We take lifts up as high as possible...then climb out and on, using all kinds of safety gear. One trip per day. And we get "high pay" to do it.

The changing from the lift to the tower is the scariest and most difficult part. Because the lift will usually not sway the same as the tower...
And a difference of a few feet in three directions will make you fall. You just have to jump and catch it as it's swinging by. Same goes for the return to the ground... except that you are a lot more tired on that trip.

I thought working in crawlspaces was bad. Somehow you make them seem not so bad, lol

I very much respect your courage. My body could never let me do such a job. I have a physical reaction to heights.
