Well, THIS time
I said it could not be done. That is, that
I could not do it.
The old system used an ASA5505 for remote access. The old system's router is still being used but not for anything that requires remote access, so I was able to use it for the new system. Problem is, I don't know how to set up internet access on my router, nor do I have a CLUE how to reconfigure the ASA5505.
Getting my new router going was not all that hard. By afternoon, I was sure I had my router ready for the interface with the ASA. But the ASA5505 was another issue. NO ONE at work knew anything about it.
I had nothing to loose, so I figured being brave would not cost me anything. It not only didn't cost me, it PAID me. It took about two hours, but I successfully added the new subnets of the new network to the ASA - at the last minute, 5:05pm on Thursday, I had access to my system!
I'd emailed my new boss for help, but I didn't know he was in meetings all day. Once I got back to my room, he contacted me - when I told him I figured it out and have it working - his response was,
"Well, if you did that without knowing anything about the ASA, and no Cicso training - imagine what you will be doing next year after I get you to CCNA school..."
This was a good week.
