this is better general appearance I prefer although she is too young for me but then we are talking clothes not age.
She's almost to young to be my granddaughter but she is attractively dressed, isn't she?

Those verses I posted are not meant to do what you mention above.
They are meant EXACTLY to preserve your idea in the first paragraph of your post no. 12.

What is precious, is to be treasured. What is treasured should not be shared with everyone...

Wondering
I am guilty of picking at you. I never understood the value of being treasured until I and Deeter married and though I treasured her it took me years to deal with her valuing me in that manor. It does, completely change your life and your outlook on life.

Really?

Got a number definition for that?

Context shows it as not standing out by being " over dressed" nor "under dressed".

So is there a measurement you can go by for what is acceptable and what isn't?

I've been around Christians from around the world. Their concept of "modesty" is exactly what I have stated because the words used have an exact equal in their native language Bible which they read. English doesn't such an equivalent... The best we got is modestly.

How hard is it for women to not dress like a slut nor like The Fashion Queen of every gathering by wearing the most expensive jewelry and clothes possible?

It's not an admonition to cover every square inch of flesh like the Muslims do.

Dressing normally for the area isn't difficult nor standard. Hem lines have shifted all over the place for men and women. I have yo-yos that move slower than fashion.
And depending upon the area is what is going to dictate what is modest verses what isn't.

European modesty is different from Canadian Modesty which is different from Brazilian Modesty which is different from African Modesty which is different from Slovakia....ad infinitum.

It's all relative to where you live.
The above is for Knotical. But I'd like to share what little I know.

First of all, we're western types. We live in the U.S. When we speak of modesty, one would assume the modesty being spoken of is of the type practiced in the U.S. Makes sense. Do I even know what that small tribe in central Africa dresses like?

The measurement I can go by for what is acceptable and for what isn't would be the answer to this question: Is this pleasing to God? You know the ole' WWJD question. If Jesus walked in here right now, would I feel comfortable?

However you want to call "modesty" - to God it's the same concept. A respect for our body. Something I don't see too much of nowadays. Seems our young girls are doing their darndest to NOT look modest. If you know what I mean. Do you think guys respect gals more for this - or less? See. God's way is always the right way.

Also, you go from one extreme to the other re dressing like a muslim.

Another thing, Yeah. Who cares what fashion is doing? Is it the RIGHT fashion??? MUST I follow fashion? SHOULD I look like everyone else? AM I everyone else? Or do I wish to be a unique creature in God's eyes? Do I dress for Him or for the world?

I've been to quite a few of the countries you mention above. Not Africa. I have to say that I don't find a difference in how modesty is understood to be by those who are interested in being modest.

Except for Africa, which I cannot speak to - it's NOT a matter of where you live. But HOW you want to live.

Why did you have to make me get so serious???
)

Sorry Bill I must have hit the wrong button

Did Jesus mean physical abundance? What about Lazuras and the rich man? Luke 16: 19-31
Hi KevinK
We don't know each other, or you'd know I was kidding.

I'm not of the Word Movement, if that's what you mean by your question. Jesus came to give us an abundant spiritual life. A life everlasting. He is LIFE.

If we also have physical abundance it's not a sin, as long as it's not our god and we manage it well and not let it separate us from God, the true treasure.

The rich man in Luke did not have God as his LORD and thus ended up on the wrong side of the great divide. He didn't end up there because he was rich. Maybe some rich people pursue money so much, they have no time for God; however, it doesn't have to be that way. The rich man just wanted his relatives back home to know that they should pursue God first.

Mathew 6:33
It means that God will take care of our daily physical needs somehow. But the Kingdom comes first.
Mathew 4:4

may God make/keep them (be) spiritually, mentally and physically healthy/normal - what are the clothes and the outside appearance without the good health/condition?!, but as far as i can remember the Will of God is that the same apply likewise to the men

Well.
Seen what is considered scandalous for women to wear I consider conservative.
And vice versa.

We got Treveca Nazarene college here. All female students can't wear shorts nor tank tops. (All shirts must have sleeves of four inches) And we got blistering heat in the summer. OK...in my book that's ridiculous.

Now to me wearing bikini tops around town is too much...but not in Florida, there it's kinda normal. (Also Brazil)

Now up north to Canada shorts on girls is rather risque...but look how cold it stays.

Standing out by covering up when everyone else is relaxed is going to make an unaproachable freak out of Christiandom. Peer pressure is one thing but when it's simply a regional style of clothing. Go with the neighborhood.

Just like them Mormons on their bicycles in black pants, white shirt, and black ties...they ain't normal. Wearing any kind of a tie on a bicycle ain't normal.

I ain't not gonna argue witcha.
Let me just say this:
I agree with the Nazarene College even if it wasn't Christian!

Because the way you dress makes you feel like how you're dressed.
If you're dressed formally, you feel more formal,
if you're wearing jeans, you feel less formal.

Studies were done about 20 years ago that showed that kids who wore more formal clothing to school did better because it made their attitude change. You could look it up.

Plus, come on, don't you think it's right that shorts and tank tops shouldn't be worn to school??
I mean, these kids are going to study, they're not going to a park or to the beach. Would you go to a wedding reception dressed in shorts and a tank top? No. You should be appropriately dressed for the occasion.

Miss Manners withdraws.

...and the silly girl thinks I'm cute...
From one man to another: just in case that's really a picture of you and your tempted to believe her, don't. :)
(Coming from a man that is married to his own "silly girl" and - for good reason - uses his shadow silhouette as his picture.)

All I know is what I have seen.
Those who are legalistic exhibit fewer Spiritual Fruits than those who wish to conform to decent society dictates...wherever the lines of neckline, shirt sleeve length, or bottom half of a person's dress falls.

At one time those who showed wrist or ankles were considered harlots...and those who wore pants were simply whores. Those wearing knee length skirts might as well be naked for Pete's sake...heard and seen it all.

Those who worry about such typically are Pharisees in nature and those who blend in aren't.

The amount of clothing doesn't seem to affect lust...but attitudes sure do. And I can't read hearts. I can only see fruits.
