This is just a joke

This is a poke in fun.....toward my trinitarian friends and in no way is meant to be mean spirited...just a little rivalrous...

Trinitarian Doctrine formation akin to......:

A Psychiatrist is assessing the mental status of three patients.

He asks each of them to answer the question, 'What's three times three?'

The first patient says, '$1.58.'

The second patient replies, 'Tuesday.'

The third patient answers, 'nine.'

The shrink turns to this last patient and asks, 'Good! but how did you came up with the correct answer?'

'Easy,' he quipped, 'I just subtracted 1.58 from Tuesday!'

heh...heh..heh.....

Would you believe that in another forum site, as in here, I always was squaring off with someone on the prophecy forum...a Preterist and I were always going toe to toe....at the time I supported a Pretrib Rapture position.

One thread I started in jest included a timeline picture of the developement of Pretrib theology. I used the famous evolution picture of early man evolving into modern man. It was a famous picture used in school textbooks that showed each of these as of they were walking in a line...a progressive line of evolutionary developement.

Under each stage, I put the name of a prohpecy theology (poiking fun at the preterists).

The Authrolopithicus (Monkey-man) I labeled "Preterist"
The Neanderthal I labeled "Ammillenialist"
The CroMagnon I labled "Post Trib"
and
The Mondern man I labled "PreTrib theologian"

It was funny.....Boy did I catch flak for that....even to to point of being chastised for using an evolutionary picture by the creationist's (which I am).

No sense of humor ......anyway, I sure some serious "kook" will chastise me for my little poke at fun on a serious board. Sorry for the typo's, left my reading glasses in the car.

I do have a sense of humor, and maybe under other circumstances I would have found that funny, but everyone on these Christian boards are making fun of Trinitarians (A word I did not even know 3 months ago) almost constantly. I am not offended by it, but believing Jesus is God is different than believing in the tooth fairy or Santa Claus. Keep that in mind.

Well Christine...I'd say that 95% of the people on this forum are trinitarian and few are not.... :)

And, instead of replying with a joke (friendly banter) in kind you did just I as I said would be done....albeit not as harshly as others would have. :)

So that's how they come to their conclusions. It's all a matter of logic. :-? Although as far as trinitarians are concerned I haven't heard any give the right answer no matter how they arrived at it.

:-D I can say the same thing about nontrinitarians. By the way, my statement was not to be taken seriously, that is why I put the winky smiley on it.

Yes, but what if the psychiatrist was really a non-trinitarian, attempting to make the three mental patients look fallible? Where is your scriptural evidence for mankind possessing a sense of humour anyway.

Jokes aside however, I know it's not always easy to accept humour about something you take very seriously. Kind of like an atheist making fun of people who believe in God.

So if it helps the trinitarians accept the humour of your joke as harmless fun, I'll balance the scales with a joke about a non-trinitarian. (seeing that I am not a trinitarian myself). Here goes...

There was an Englishman an Irishman and an American. They all believed in God...but the Englishman believed Jesus was God and the Irishman believed God was Jesus and the American believed he was God. So which one was the non-trinitarian?

...the right one!

I liked the intent of your joke Georges - that it was meant to be light hearted fun and to take the seriousness out of all our discussions. I hoped you wouldn't mind a joke about a non-trinitarian so that we can all have a good laugh at ourselves too. :D

Nah...Anyone who knows me personally knows I'm a jokester. I joke in fun and expect it in return...most of the time I set myself up as the butt of the joke, just to get a laugh out of my friends...

now that's what I'm talking about.... :P

I don't think it is funny at all calling a professional SHRINK and making fun of mental patients.

As far as I am concerned one can not be a Christian and not be a Trinitarian, anything else is not the God of the bible.

Oh and so you know, I came from a pentecostal oneness church, nothing was more freeing to me then when I realized their error and came to the truth about Gods triune nature.

I'm very happy for your good fortune Henry....and thanks for your opinion....

I thought this would be the time to say that there was only one time that I was offended, and that is when I first (not my first post, but among them) posted here in March. The person who offended me at the time was gingercat. No one else here has ever offended me, and I no longer let what gingercat says hurt me in any way!! :)

Genesis 17:17 Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, "Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?"

There wasn't any good fortune to leaving the Oneness Church is was a very sad thing, many where left behind still believing and following the lies they teach. Sadly when you take the trinity out, so goes also grace and salvation becomes a matter of works and rituals.

Well I don't think it's funny that you are prepared to say about one such as I that I am not a Christian because I don't believe in the trinity. As a young Christian I was 'taught' about the trinity.

But it was the church's inconsistent use of scripture and God's revelation to myself that gave me understanding of the nature of Jesus' relationship with His father.

Now I realise that there are many sincere people on each side of the divide but I can never say that they are not Christians solely on the basis of their belief or non-belief in the trinity. Funny that - huh

mutzrein

Should I also call someone a christian who denies the resurection? How many essential doctrines do we allow to be eliminated before the faith is compromised and no longer the true christian faith any more.

For example any mormon would insist they are Christians and genuinly believe they are, however they have compromised the teaching of the bible and the nature of God and of salvation so far that it simply is not Christian at all.

The same is true of Oneness types of teaching, it is a false teaching and one that is taught in error. Well error bagats error and if you begin your teaching with a false teaching of the nature of God then the ways of God will also be false teachings.

In the oneness church we are told to be saved one must 1. Repent, publicaly and emotionaly of course people need to see. 2. Be baptized in the name of "Jesus" not the biblical triune Father Son and Holy Spirit 3. Speak in tounges as proof that you are filled with the Spirit and then 4. IF IF IF IF you live a holy life you migh bve saved, and so there are tons of rules to follow OR ELSE !!!

When I left that mess, I was told by that pastor that I lost my salvation and the only way to get it back is to come back and repent to HIM he after is the authority God placed over, so he said.

Is that only me ? No way, there thousands of stories just like mine and many even far worse then mine are. The fact is that once they perverted God's nature, a false understanding of grace came into play which led to a works based salvation with no guarantee at all.

The Doctrine of the trinity is absolutely essential to the Christian faith, as essential as Jesus having been raised from the dead. To compromise any essential doctrine is to end up with a faith that sounds christian but really is not.

If you think I am wrong ask any mormon if they are Christian and see what they tell you. Oh and by they way, like you they will not hear they are not Christians.

Now, can you be saved YES ! But only IN SPITE of the teaching of your church and not by them. Jesus does the saving and if he has decided you are saved then you are saved, your faith in him may be great but never the less you are being led into false teachings about his nature and I promise also the means of and the way of living for God.

hello henry,

Matt 22:37-40
37 Jesus replied: "`Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." NIV

you are obsessed with doctrines. but you do have a point. right beliefs are important in any endeavor. i just don't think like mutzrein that it is sufficient ground to call someone not a christian because he thinks of god's nature differently. the essense of christianity are not systematic theology. if our salvation are solely based on theological doctrines and exegesis, then we are truly lost.

i sincerely believe anyone who sets his heart to obey the two commandments i quoted above is suffiecient to be called a christian. for this is what jesus would require any of those who would accept him.

and oh, i do think those three poor psycho patients will go to heaven. but not sure about the prof though...LOL
