This Is My New York

hello wondering , dirtfarmer here

I have entered the state from East-west Pa. Also have entered by way of Corning. Have also been to Dunkirk. I have crossed the border at Niagara going to Montreal. Used to go from Toronto to Montreal on the 401. Have also been to Guelph going to Hanover. Have also crossed the border by way of tunnel from Detroit Michigan to Windsor Ontario. It is all beautiful as long as you are in the rural parts. Still, to me from Champlain to Albany is the most picturesque

You know my territory, DF. I grew up on a farm between Elmira and Ithaca, have lived in Corning and Olean.

Hi DF
You've done a lot more than I have!
I always drove up from NYC.
I do agree with you regarding the stretch between Albany and Champlain. It's by far the most spectacular and I attribute that to the high mountains.

I like to tell people here that I've been to the top of a mountain by way of an elevator inside the mountain. (Whiteface). We have nothing like that here.

Although in Switzerland there's a train that goes through a mountain (Jungfrau).

Have been to Montreal and the Quebec area in general, never to Niagra Falls (sorry about this).
The world is beautiful!

Thanks DF. Yes it is spectacular in the fall and winter months. Our property is very .near the town of Ticonderoga and I usually drive from Connecticut north through Massachusetts and Vermont to get there. It's beautiful throughout the trip.

I started this thread to show others not familiar with New York State that there is more to the state than New York City. Even though I love the city, upstate is my real New York.
NYC is a cesspool but having flown in an H-13 Sioux Helicopter and having spent a month in Upstate, I can testify, if you want to see New York, buy a small helicopter because from the air, as seen in this video, New You is almost as awesome as East Texas.:whirl

ALMOST as awesome as Texas? Them's fightin words, cowboy. :angry3

You know I love Texas, right!
I know that when a man leaves NYC, Buffalo, and the other big cities, New Yorkers are just like the folks there are just the same as the ones I grew up with and live with.

And jjst so you know, the month spent at Ft. Drum and Watertown, I fell in love with real New Yorkers.

I almost was laughing to hard to type that. Oh! And if anyone wonders, they have beautiful you lasses up thar that will do the Texas Two Step with a man.

hello th1b.taylor, dirtfarmer here

The "lasses in upper state New York are a lot prettier than those in Buffalo.

I lived in Mesquite Texas for a year, at I 30 and Ferguson Road. Used to shop at "Big Town" mall. When I was there Garland was not connected to the city, neither was North Richland Hills. I have been back a few times for work. It has changed a lot.

I've been to Fort Ticonderoga.
Upstate New York is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in the US. My kids went to Word of Life Bible Camp up there two different summers. There were humming birds everywhere.
I'm happy for you and your family. God is good.

Bill,
Do you mean NYC is a cesspool, or do you mean Manhattan is a cesspool?
I grew up in NYC (Queens) and NYC is really nice but it depends where. It's very big - much bigger than most people that haven't been there can imagine.

Staten Island has hills. North Bronx is beautiful. Same for many areas of Queens. Douglaston, Little Neck. Many who could live anywhere prefer to live in some areas of Queens.

As far as Manhattan, there's no way I could ever live there; however, we can't deny that it's a spectacular city - just the architecture alone, Central Park, all the culture available, the museiums, the Statue of Liberty, the view at night from the Empire State Bldg is one of the most beautiful sites anywhere.

I'm not putting down any other place but most believe NYC is the center of the world.

Just to clarify a little for those reading along who may never have been there.
