Bible Study Thompson Chain Reference Bible... Any good links on how to use ?

Just as another example.

I was present at a Bible Study session last Friday night, and the leader was trying to elicit an understanding of Romans 12.1:

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

What does that mean, he asked.

And for an hour, they went round and round the topic, quoting theologians galore, and fishing for explanations everywhere. I sat there bemused and scared to open my mouth in case I upset the leader and the others. I eventually didn't say anything about the passage.

But applying our great rule - read the context - would have solved the problem easily: in fact there would have been no problem at all!

So let me ask you Bob, and farouk, what exactly do you think Paul meant? We can compare notes afterward.

Remember: what YOU think - not Thompson or anybody else.
