Thomas wasn't damned for doubting the other apostles' report of Jesus' resurrection. Instead Jesus provided Thomas with what he needed to overcome his doubt and believe.

Jhn 20:24 ¶ But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
Jhn 20:25 - The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
Jhn 20:26 - And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
Jhn 20:27 - Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
Jhn 20:28 - And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Jhn 20:29 - Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, andyet have believed.

Yes.
there is even a non-canonical sayings gospel of Thomas.
Thomas is also the apostle who referred to Jesus as "Lord and God" when He met Him after the resurrection.
So, that is significant as it can be used along with other (Jesus as Deity) NT verses like 1 Tim 3:16 to prove and validate the doctrine of the Deity of Christ.

The Gospel of Thomas is a 2nd century (long after Thomas was dead) gnostic work. (Which is why it's non-canonical)

Yes.
There is a lot of material like that which makes for interesting reading.
As a matter of fact, when i read some of The Testament of Solomon, it occurred to me that JRR Tolkien perhaps got the ideas for some of his fantasy stories from that book.
