When the day comes and you discover that you are not a direct descendant of Peter Pan and may only be a third cousin twice removed...
You realize that you only have acted childish instead of truly being young...
You find that peace with Captain Hook is possible because you both hate that clock instead of treating it as inconsequential.

And all those years of abusing your body and pushing it hard to comply with your wishes has kept you physically fit but also the old injuries start demanding more and more care...

"If only I could keep them kids off of my lawn" seems justified thinking...

I, like Job, need a lawyer to plead my case to God about how unfair this really is.

And the reality is that it's going to get worse before it's really over.

*Sigh*

I already knew that I wasn't a direct descendant of Peter Pan so that's absolutely no surprise to me. I am the real life female version of him. Okay, so I guess that means that I could be either his sister or daughter. I'm just saying it makes an awful lot of sense since I love to use my imagination, long to know how to fly, and absolutely refuse to grow up. I double dog dare somebody on this forum to try and make me too. :mischief

Age isn't all bad though. With age usually comes wisdom and maturity. (Or at least more then we had when we we younger). Though the clocks strikes, and soon our no responsibilities turn to bills, rent and jobs. It strikes again and our health is taking notice, not as much spring in our step, and possibly enough time to have an injury that stays with us the rest of our life. Once more the clock strikes again and soon you are at an age looking forward to retirement, and if the warning signs of our body needing more didn't get attention, then our body is hurting moch more.

With each strick of the clock We can look in the mirror, and say recoil at our age, but what is missing from this picture? What is unnoticed when we look at all the changes. Some have families and both kids and grand kids. And those people have the love that comes with that and the wisdom to show those kids the ropes of life. Others spend time with their peers of their own age, and with that comes stories of eachother's lives.

There are some parts of being older I could be ok with. Being more restful then I am in this stage of life, and less mistakes with the things that I do. If I can do that much then the sticks of the clock don't seem so bad. At least for now I see it that way.

I don't exactly know why Not_Now.Soon , but your post reminded me of my son. He was a prodigal and living 3,000 miles away with his sister. He is working and has saved enough for his first car. He told his sister, "I feel so grown up." As he searched for car insurance.
When he went to look at the car he has had his eye on he said, "I wish my Dad was here.".

Tic toc, time continues and what is today is not tomorrow. Today it rains, tomorrow the sun is upon your face.

And I don't know why Jeff but at first glance I thought your post read that your son was 3,000 years old. Lol! I was thinking wow,.. really?? He's been alive longer than Jesus has. :lol
