I'm a quadriplegic who's never taken government welfare. I've been paying for medical supplies out of my pocket. It beginning to be too expensive and now I need a new wheelchair that cost $20,000. Because of this I setup a website http://www.donatetoaquad.com which ask for donations. Is this wrong? In Deuteronomy 26:12-15 is states something about tithing to a stranger.

Thanks

James

Because there are so many people exploiting Jesus' name for their own selfish reasons, I don't believe anyone takes you seriously.

That's the love of gingercat, not the love of Jesus Christ. It doesn't surprise me, however.

Let's see what the love of Jesus Christ is:

38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. 41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Matthew 5:38-48

Solo,

It seems that you have unlimited money to give away.

All the cattle on one thousand hills are my Father's. God keeps his children content and full of joy when following him. Try it sometime.

I think it's wrong for you to ask us to trust you, given the ease at which this could be a scam. It's admirable if you've avoided government welfare, but that would be a better way for you to go if you cannot get the financial help you need from those who know you (because you can't ask the government to just trust you).

Also, I would expect you to be able to get a used wheelchair for much less than $20,000. I recently gave away a practically brand new wheelchair and when I tried to get an estimate of its value for tax write-off purposes, I found the wheelchair didn't have much value, relative to the new cost, because wheelchairs are usually bought with 3rd-party funds so there's almost no secondhand demand.

James,
I think you would get better results if you could get the place that you plan to actually buy the wheelchair from to be in charge of receiving the funds for you.
Also I have saw alot of convenience stores raise money for similar causes.
The internet is just not the place to expect much of a response, thanks to the scam artists.
I pray that you will find a better avenue to get your needs met.
Bless you.
