Titles?

Who said God has stopped giving us gifted me as who serve as pastors? Not me, not at all. Actually he is given MANY MANY of them sitting in the pews of many churches.

What I am saying is that the pastor of the bible, and the one in the institutional church are not the same thing. It is wrong to use the bible to justify the job of pastor as we know him today, because that guy is not found in the bible.

To be sure I am clear, the pastor in the bible IS NOT an office or a title, it is a function like running or jumping, something someone just does. NOT an office or title or possition in the church as it has become.

What scripture? There is nothing in the bible about the modern day churcho pastor to post. ZIP ZERO NADDA

1Cr 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas [there is] among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

1Cr 3:4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I [am] of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

1Cr 3:5 Who then is Paul, and who [is] Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

Are you saying those verses speak to the modern day pastor? Man you are grasping at straws, those verse have NOTHING at all to do with the office of pastor in the modern church.

You do not even see Paul being called a pastor.

The fact is that the modern church pastor, his office and his job description simply is not in the bible PERIOD.

1 Corinthians 3

1And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to (A)spiritual men, but as to (B)men of flesh, as to (C)infants in Christ.

2I gave you (D)milk to drink, not solid food; for you (E)were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able,

3for you are still fleshly. For since there is (F)jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking (G)like mere men?

4For when (H)one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not mere (I)men?

5What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? (J)Servants through whom you believed, even (K)as the Lord gave opportunity to each one.

6(L)I planted, (M)Apollos watered, but (N)God was causing the growth.

7So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.

8Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will (O)receive his own reward according to his own labor.

9For we are God's (P)fellow workers; you are God's (Q)field, God's (R)building.

10According to (S)the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder (T)I laid a foundation, and (U)another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it.

This text has nothing at all to do with the modern day office of pastor of the church. Sorry.

Henry,

You haven't shown me biblical proof so you have failed to convert me to your line of thinking. Your arguments are like you are saying that you are from Apollos and that you respect these divisions as if the only true Christians come from house churches. I reject it.

Churches met in homes

Acts 8:3
But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.

Colossians 4:15
Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house.

Romans 16:5
Greet also the church that meets at their house. Greet my dear friend Epenetus, who was the first convert to Christ in the province of Asia.

1 Corinthians 16:19
[ Final Greetings ] The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house
The church met to share a meal together

1 Corinthians 11
20When you come together, it is not the Lord's Supper you eat,

We eat the Lords Supper in celebration of the day we eat it with him.
Revelation 19:17
And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, me, gather together for the great supper of God
Meetings are interactive and not a one man show
1 Corinthians 14:26
[ Orderly Worship ] What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone hasa hymn or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church.
church was Elder led by example, and not led by a “Church Pastorâ€Â. To “pastor†and “oversee†are not church offices, but are functions all elders did.

1 Peter 5
1To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2be shepherdsGod's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

Now I NEVER !!! Said that only true Christians meet in homes, you are very wrong to put those words into my mouth. I have said and will say that the early church met in homes and since that is ALL there is for us in the bible, then I along with MILLIONS believe that is God better way.

Certainly there are great Christians sitting in pews every week, and very godly men who desire to serve God acting as clergy in these places.

You are WRONG to accuse me of saying that only real Christians meet in homes, I have never said any such thing nor would I ever say any such thing.

The Best way is Gods way, and his word gives one example of church life and it is house church. The early church met in homes, no scholar disputes this. The dispute is “Do we have the right to change the practices or notâ€Â

I will add as well that you are not rejecting me, Paul when talking about house church meeting said that if you think you are spiritual then you will know that what he is saying is the Lords Command.

You reject not me, you reject Gods own words, certainly I am not the writer of the Bible after all
