I doubt very much you will locate this matter in any 'sect.'

And 'believers' will openly CONDEMN anyone who actually believes that statement from John. Just watch.

Who is the holy spirit talking to???

I believe that each thread I'm on has "believers" accusing another "believer" of being wrong, and some posts, . . . that they are "blaspheming" or "are letting Satan deceive them", so to speak.

It's kind of funny to watch. . . . yet . . . sad at the same time. And it is the main point of this thread.

I think there must be some misunderstanding. The fact that there is ANY disagreement amongst "true christians" means that either 1. one of them is getting wrong information from the holy spirit,...2. one of them isn't as "in tune with the holy spirit" [even though they honestly believe they are],...3. both are only believing what their denomination states as true and no spiritual being is giving anyone any special insight.

I would say that #3 is the most likely.

How about a #4? Believers grow and mature at different rates. We can spend years not listening to the Holy Spirit's leading. We can search for the "truth" in man's books instead of God's Book. We can refuse to be obedient in something and our growth will be stunted. Jesus is the Truth and the more we know Him the closer we'll be with other believers in our understanding.

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

If it were just "babies in christ", then I would agree. But denominations do the same thing. I just find it incongruent, is all.
