Tough Bible questions from an Islamic convert.....

What about the Bible? Who actually wrote it?

What was the original language of the Bible? (Hebrew? Aramaic? Koine Greek?)
NOTE: - The Bible was never in English during the time of any prophet (not even Muhammad) - because English did not exist until after 1066 AD!

Does the Bible exist in the original form anywhere on earth? (No)

Why does the Catholic Bible has seven (7) more books than the Protestant Bible?

Why do these two Bibles have different versions of the same books?

Why are there so many mistakes and errors are from the very first verse right up to the very last verse?

Why do 'Born Again Christians' teach concepts that are not from the Bible?

There is no word "Trinity" in the Bible in any version of any language

The oldest forms of Christianity do not support the 'born again' beliefs

Jesus of the English Bible complains about the 'crucifixion'
("Eli! Eli! Lama sabachthani? - My God! My God! Why have You forsaken me?") [Mk 15:34]

How can Jesus be the "Only Begotten Son" of John 3:16? When in Psalms 2:7 David is God's "Begotten Son?"

Would a 'Just' God, a 'Fair' God, a 'Loving' God -- punish Jesus for the sins of the people that he called to follow him?

What happens to people who died before Jesus came?

What happens to those who never hear this message?

What about innocent children who die although their parents are not Christian?

Didn't God create Adam from dirt? -- So, why does he need Mary to make Jesus?

And what about God?
How can God create Himself?
How can God be a man?
How can a man be a God?
How can God have a son?

The Bible says "Seth (is) the son of Adam" and that"Adam is the son of God." [Lk 3:36]

Can't God just forgive us and not have to kill Jesus?

And what about Jesus?

Jesus did not even carry the cross -- Simon Cyre'ne, a passerby did! [Mk 15:21]

Jesus of the Bible was NOT on the cross for longer than six (6) hours -- NOT three days -- (from the 3rd to the 9th hour) [Mk 15:25 & 15:33]

Jesus of the Bible did not spend three days and nights in the tomb -- Friday night - until Sunday before dawn -- is not 3 days and nights!

Jesus DID NOT claim to be God - or even equal to God!

How easily SomaSite is misled

How easily you are misled SomaSite....

Take this one for example:

The oldest forms of Christianity do not support the 'born again' beliefs

Only a Muslim and a New Age Fundy would miss what Jesus said.

We are "born again" as Jesus taught Nicodemus in John 3:1-8.

John said:
Jesus Teaches Nicodemus
1Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."

3In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

4"How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"

5Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' 8The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
What part of that do you not understand?

What part of that do you not understand?

To be "born again" definition depends on who you ask.....

Born again is a term used primarily in the Fundamentalist, Evangelical, and Pentecostal branches of Protestant Christianity, where it is associated with salvation, conversion and spiritual rebirth. Outside of these circles, the term is often applied by extension to other phenomena, including a transcending personal experience  or the experience of being spiritually reborn as a "new" human being. (this is gnostic in Soma's eyes....)

To be born again in Christianity is synonymous with spiritual rebirth and, in many denominational traditions, salvation. The term is used somewhat differently in different Christian traditions.

The Roman Catholic church, for example, considers that "Baptism is ... the sacrament by which we are born again of water and the Holy Ghost."

So as you can see Gary....

"Born again" can be deemd in exoteric fashion as a "baptism" by water...

It can be deemed as a "conversion" from one dogmatic paradigm to another protestant/orthodox/catholic one.....

It can be said to be a "vision" of Christ or His sufferings and the subsequent change in behaviour patterns as you strive to live a Christlike lifestyle rather than a fleshy one. (think Saul turned Paul here in his Gnostic translformation)

It can simply be "Faith" in Jesus Christ as "Saviour". (which Muslims believe anyways)

Or it could literally mean "being born again" into the Resurrestion body after death when the last trump is blown! (Because as a literalist I am sure you could see this line of reasoning!

Oh please! Really.... most of what you post is not even worthy of a reply. But this is so wrong it cannot go without comment.

PLEASE show me where in the Quran, which Surah, did Muhammad refer to Jesus as "Saviour"

Why do you speak from abject ignorance on a subject you cannot possibly hope to understand? One must be guided by the Holy Spirit to understand things of a spiritual nature, and you don't have either.
Therefore, you write words that have no meaning to the Christian. When you have achieved a personal relationship with Christ and HIS Holy Spirit, come back and ask all these questions again............if you can.
Eh, what? :smt018
No Holy Spirit is necessary to understand the Koran. Those are words anyone can understand. Pitiable.

Muslims believe that Isa was sent down as a messenger and to be the Messiah.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isa

Something's fishy in the state of accounts.

'Isa's mother Mariam was the daughter of 'Imran, (3:34,35) - cf the Amram of Exodus 6:20 - and the sister of Aaron (and Moses). (19:28) She was fostered by Zachariah (father of John the Baptist). (3:36) While still a virgin (6:12; 19:19-21) Mariam gave birth to 'Isa alone in a desolate place under a date palm tree. (19:22ff) (Not in Bethlehem).

This is mishmash. The difference in time, between Moses and Mary, Jesus' mother is many hundreds of years.

Isa is not even an Arabic word, and some claim it is a slur against Jesus.

Replace it with Yeshua, and I will believe you actually respect him.

In a recent, more fashionable and politically correct and abrogated version?

lol.....

Once again it comes down to semantics....

Muslims believe Jesus is the "Messiah"

Look up the word in a thesaurus!

3 entries found for messiah.

Main Entry: Jesus Christ

Part of Speech: noun

Definition: Son of God

Synonyms: Christ, Good Shepherd, Jesus, King of kings, Lamb of God, Lord, Lord of lords, Messiah, Prince of Peace, Redeemer, Savior, Son of Man

Wake up SomaSite

SomaSite, the Quran NEVER defines what the Messiah is. Ask any Muslim. Ask him what "Messiah" means. Like you, they have no clue

No Muslim would ever call Jesus the "Saviour"

Tricky!! but not Good enough.
You are a Muslim.... what does Al-Masihu (Messiah) mean? What did Muhammad mean when he called Jesus Al-Masihu ?

Any ideas?

:)

Okay, I'll wade in.....

What about the Bible? Who actually wrote it?
Lots of people. Some named, some not.

What was the original language of the Bible? (Hebrew? Aramaic? Koine Greek?)
Depends on where in the bible you are talking about. Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek were all used.

NOTE: - The Bible was never in English during the time of any prophet (not even Muhammad) - because English did not exist until after 1066 AD!
Correct. It was translated by intelligent people into the English language.

Does the Bible exist in the original form anywhere on earth? (No)
Correct again. OTOH, the works of Aristotle don't either. But few people have trouble believing what he wrote.

Why does the Catholic Bible has seven (7) more books than the Protestant Bible?
Because they hold the Apocrypha to be scripture. Most Protestant denominations do not, and don't include it.

Why do these two Bibles have different versions of the same books?
I'm not sure I understand your question. Please clarify for me.

Why are there so many mistakes and errors are from the very first verse right up to the very last verse?
Be more specific. What "mistakes"? Chapter and verse, please.

Why do 'Born Again Christians' teach concepts that are not from the Bible?
Again, please be more specific. I can't help but wonder if this is a straw man.

There is no word "Trinity" in the Bible in any version of any language
That's right. And the word rapture isn't in the bible either. But they both are good, descriptive words used to help people wrap their brains around bible issues.

The oldest forms of Christianity do not support the 'born again' beliefs

Jesus of the English Bible complains about the 'crucifixion'
("Eli! Eli! Lama sabachthani? - My God! My God! Why have You forsaken me?") [Mk 15:34]
Once again, what is the question?

How can Jesus be the "Only Begotten Son" of John 3:16? When in Psalms 2:7 David is God's "Begotten Son?"
David wasn't writing about himself in this verse, but of Christ.

Would a 'Just' God, a 'Fair' God, a 'Loving' God -- punish Jesus for the sins of the people that he called to follow him?
It was either that or let them be eternally separated from them. Both Father AND son had a part in the salvation of all people.

What happens to people who died before Jesus came?
They are judged according to the law of Moses.

What happens to those who never hear this message?
Read the first chapter of Romans.

What about innocent children who die although their parents are not Christian? Read 2 Samuel 12:23

Didn't God create Adam from dirt? -- So, why does he need Mary to make Jesus?
I'll respond to this later, after a bit of study.

And what about God?
How can God create Himself?
How can God be a man?
How can a man be a God?
How can God have a son?

The Bible says "Seth (is) the son of Adam" and that"Adam is the son of God." [Lk 3:36]
What is the question?

Can't God just forgive us and not have to kill Jesus?
The wages of sin is death. Justice demands it, otherwise Satan would have to be forgiven too, as well as all who hate God and refuse to repent.

And what about Jesus?

Jesus did not even carry the cross -- Simon Cyre'ne, a passerby did! [Mk 15:21]
Once again, what is your question?

Jesus of the Bible was NOT on the cross for longer than six (6) hours -- NOT three days -- (from the 3rd to the 9th hour) [Mk 15:25 & 15:33]
What's the question?

Jesus of the Bible did not spend three days and nights in the tomb -- Friday night - until Sunday before dawn -- is not 3 days and nights!
The question?

Jesus DID NOT claim to be God - or even equal to God!
Another question?

Soma, rather than writing an endless string of questions, read your bible. Nearly all the questions you ask can be answered there. You'll be much less susceptible to the attacks of people from other religions if you do.

Your servant in Christ,

Frank
