So,
I hold a CDL...I don't have cause to actually use it much but can and do upon occasion. (Bucket trucks require one)
And I notice the different big trucks on the road as my BIL drives. I've driven his tractor.
Things have changed a lot since I drove... everything is an automatic these days with bump shifts. (No more 14 gear sticks)
International trucks had noisy cabs but you couldn't kill them if you tried (except for the cylinder sleeves that would wear out)
Peterbilt were ok...but kinda quirky
Freightliner were the Cadillac of trucks...nice quiet interiors and a Kitty Cat under the hood...you had to take it easy with Cat engines as you could easily burn up a clutch around town. Decent ride too.
Never even got in a Kenworth... seen one today...big ol KW on the grill. Reminded me of a Peterbilt.
But I think that the market has changed. There are a ton of Volvo trucks on the road today. The guys who used to make little cars and minivans (the first minivans before they became popular) are now making a ton of tractors...and obviously selling them.
I'm really curious about them. Never driven one or rode in one. Would love to. Just to see
