Trains and Guns/Ammo?

I have never been on a train. I do know that i can bring my gun as long as i declare it but ammo is prohibited.

I am bringing a 12ga backpacker shotgun with me but i want to bring some shells as well and since i can't ship them how would i bring them with me.

Do they have security checks like on a plane >

Don't worry, i am not planning on hijacking a bloody train :rolling

I am relocating for a while for work, but it is think grizzly territory, so my small 13" barrel backpacker shotgun would be great to have but it is only good when it has ammo with it.

I just want to have both with me.


I thin kthe best thing to do is order it online and have it shipped where i will be staying.

You used to be able to take a gun on a plane if it was in the cargo area, but after Bush knocked down the WTC I don't know I haven't flown since.

Bushes stunt also effected Canadian airliners, that is another reason why i am taking the train. I am kind of a rail fan.

The place is in a national park...no guns...no ammo. I am operating near the park boundary so i can use my gun for recreational shooting and for protection from bears if i can get ammo.

I will just have to order the shells online.

We can now have our guns in parks here. They tried recently to take that, but rationality overcame.
