Probably just part of the growing up process, they're 19 years old now.
Poor Trayvon won't get to grow up and out of the phase.
You know, we've told our son that unless it's raining to not put the hood up...even if the other kids do, he shouldn't.
But, it was raining the night Zimmerman shot Trayvon....
What can a parent do... tell her son not put a hood up, even if it is raining, just because someone out there might think he's a gangster and shoot him.
I'm white...I grew up white in a white town with a white brother and white guy friends... no one had this issue... no one had the issue of "you can't wear that, because someone might mistakenly think you're something you're not and kill you for it."
I guess because I didn't grow up with this, it hits me differently. I can't fathom why my son shouldn't pull a hood up over his head when it's raining...
...but, a 17 year old kid walking home from a snack run during half-time with some Skittles and tea was killed for that very reason.
In my opinion... and it is only my opinion here... I don't think Zimmerman would have followed, confronted and shot the kid if he were white. I'm not judging his conscience here... he very well may have been convinced that he truly needed to stalk and confront the kid... I just don't think he would have felt that need if the kid were white.
