Rev 22:19...is it tree of life or Book of life?
NAS and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the
tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.
KJV And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the
book of life, and out of the holy city, and
from the things which are written in this book.
Two different things. Revelation 22 talks about the tree of life. All of that chapter makes it make sense when referring to the tree. Revelation 20 talks about the book of life, as do other scriptures.
With the Book of Life, John 8 tells us “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
That isn't telling us there are conditions on our salvation and we can misstep and lose it. God is the Word. We abide in him and we are his disciples , which means students of the Word. Just as Jesus' disciples were when they were with him and he was teaching them the secrets of the kingdom and the reason he was here. We are in the Word when we are redeemed in Christ. We're one with God. Our species was created in the beginning with Adam and Adam was created in the image and likeness of God. God's power and will created man to be what he became by God making it happen.
Then we were misled by that which was worldly here, that which was averse to God's goodness. The antithesis of God's righteousness. His mirror opposite, Satan.
God told Adam don't eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge. Because if he did he would die. He didn't drop dead in the body when he ate it. He died in his oneness link with the spirit of The Word, The Father. A separation occurred. Knowledge of the material world entered woman first and then man. Because by man sin came into the world. Because God told the man, Adam, not to eat of that fruit. He was responsible for guiding the woman to righteousness. He failed. Eve was misled by the worldly god, Satan.
That's why they became ashamed, Adam and Eve, when they had already eaten of the fruit and now had the knowledge of the world's rules. Self. The flesh. Self-consciousness. Whereas before they were one with God consciousness.
Then John 8 as part of what came later as the new saving testament that reunites us to God through our being saved in Him from this worlds illusion of life and death, tells us, if you abide in My word, which is accept the rule of redemption unto eternal salvation and life reunited with the Word, we are the Word's disciples. That's why in the John 8 scripture, "My" is capitalized. Just like John 1:1 , and that says, in the beginning was the Word, word being capitalized as a proper noun there. And the Word was with God. And the Word was God.
John 8 tells us when we accept the covenant that describes Salvation we are "My", God's, the Word's, disciples indeed. And we shall know the truth, and the truth shall make us free of the trappings , the illusion, the sin spirit that guides this world. Satan. Who hopes to lead us away from righteousness.
That's why the passage in Revelation 22 speaks against those who would miss-word, misrepresent, alter, change, the truth that does set us free. Their names aren't in the Book of Life. They will not see the Tree of Life that is in the Holy City.
