There seems to be a big increase in the amount of trolls on the board lately. It's hard to know if there are a lot, or just one or two who keep coming back.

BabyLover is the most current, and if his post is still on the board, I strongly advise simply not opening it, and adding him to your foe list. One can access the foe list through the control panel.

At any rate, we are called to pray for those who persecute us. Trolling isn't exactly persecuting, more annoying really, but the trolls do represent those who do not know the love of God and need Him. While it can be very hard (sometimes even impossible) to engage in reasonable converstation and witnessing that the trolls need, we can always pray for them.

Father in heaven, I pray for these trolls that have come here lately for no other purpose but to offend. We know that it is Your Son and You that are they hate. I pray for them that they may come to know Your love and come to full repentence. I also pray for those who come here seeking prayer from others at this board, and wind up being hurt by these offensive posts.
In Jesus' name, who face true persecution, Amen.

Pray for them, but please don't feed them, folks.

The thing is, we should be praying for and using this opportunity to try and minister to them! So many Christian forums have an instant ban policy where they could be helping these misguided souls.

I'm new to the forum, I hope this is the right place to post this.

Kill the trolls with love, not with hate.

I can appreciate where you're comeing from, Dantillion, but I can also understand an instant ban as well. Here at 123, I think there is a generous welcome to athiests and agnostics and even just cranky folks. But, the trolls are really egregious in their offensiveness, to the point that others can be hurt. Frankly, I was so bothered by BabyLover's horrific post yesterday, I had to spend some time in prayer just to be able to get over it and get on with my day, and I'm fairly thick-skinned.

Jesus said not to cast one's pearls before swine, lest they trample and turn on you, and I believe that it this context in which that verse makes sense. When one tries to reach out, "feed them" as Vic put it, it just spurs on even more offensive, blasphemous and downright sick material.

Pray for them yes, but don't give Satan an opportunity.

BTW, Welcome to the Board!

To quote "The X Files", the truth is out there.

It is not as if they are stumbling around in cyberspace and suddenly fell into a Christian forum. A lost soul that is seeking the truth about Jesus Christ is different from a lost soul that never will be saved. The devil's advocate hangs out in here simply to pick out a passage, claim that they don't understand it so that they can twist it, or to attempt to tell us that they are right and God is wrong on a particular issue. Planting seeds of doubt and trying to uproot the faith of others.

They come in here to distract, to look for new believers to devour, and to find anything that is less than perfect so that they can discredit Christianity. They are indeed misguided souls. We need to accept the fact that not everyone is going to be saved, and know when to shake off the dust and move on. If the devil can not get you to stop planting the truth, he will try to get you to toss it out on the concrete.

My prayer for them is Romans 8:28. If the mods don't tos them out, then God must have them here for a reason. How many times the attempts of the devil to plant doubt in the minds of someone has only been turned around and galvanized someones faith? Scripture says that God uses the wicked. We are not to have part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but expose them.

Perhaps the trolls are the iron that sharpens the iron :-D .

Excellent post! I have alway's wondered myself about people who go out of their way to take away from another person's belief's. But I agree, showing them the love of Jesus may be exactly what they need. And their scoffing, disbelief, and rebuttals may be exactly what some of us need?

Hi Jrgunn,

I think you can rest assured that the mods won't throw anyone one out simply for disbelief and/or rebuttals. Even scoffing, if it's done the right way, will be OK. There are plenty of athiests and agnostics who come and stir the pot, and I for one think it's healthy. Anyone who gets instantly banned is so banned because it's truly necessary.

I agree with you Dora- it's those who are lost who need Jesus so badly. At any rate we're all here to help them along the way towards Jesus. God Bless .

Gen 50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; [but] God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as [it is] this day, to save much people alive.

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

Pro 26:27 Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] whereto I sent it.

Phl 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

I stand on verses such as these, knowing that God allows the wicked to continue for a purpose. May God allow the 'trolls' to continue in what they are doing and be used for His purposes. May the blindness be removed from the eyes of the lost, the deafness come out of their ears that they may see recognize the light of Christ, hear His voice see the lies for what they are, and be saved.
