Does one know what Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[i] have been called according to his purpose.
means, are you trusting in God or in who you are and what you have.
We are too used to a good life so it hurts when we have to deliberatly put our trust in God.
There is no let go and let God, would you let go of a lifeline when at risk of drowning.
When life is tough that is when we have to cling harder to God. Trusting him moment by moment for the strength to cope wiyh that moment.
