I have a very Catholic friend who says I am immoral for watching these shows.

Do you agree that enjoying these shows makes me immoral?

"Scrubs" (rated TV-14 for strong crude humor, sexual situations, and mild language)
"Smallville" (rated TV-14 for strong superhero violence, sexual situations, mild language, and some strong dialogue)
"Supernatural" (rated TV-14 for strong supernatural and occult themes, graphic violence and gore, strong moderate language, sexual situations, and strong dialogue)
"The Shield" (rated TV-MA for strong language, police violence, sexual situations, and nudity)
"Family Guy" (rated TV-14 for strong adult humor, strong language, cartoon nudity, sexual situations for comedic effect, and comic violence)

I can't speak for the majority of those but i myself am partial to:

Smallville & Family Guy

I say that young kids should not watch it, but as long as you know when to censor it for yourself (like family guy mocking Jesus) there should be no problem.

Watching those shows does not make you immoral. i don't care what any one says.

My 2 cents.

i never really thought smallville wasn't that bad. i hadn't seen the new epsidoes. family guy is worst shows. if you want bad show check out adult swim on cartoon network. they got really bad shows.

Other bad shows are
depester house wifes
My name is earl
will and grace
friends

I love scrubs, don't know about smallville but I like family guy most of the time

There are definitely worse shows and better shows that you could be watching. But I do agree with John. You have to know when to turn it off. My favorite thing to say is: watching these shows may be a sin for your friend but not for you. There are certain things that the Lord lays on our hearts that make them sinful in nature just for us. For example, two people are friends and one (A) is an alcoholic. Now A and B go out for dinner. A drinks and gets drunk (because she is an alcoholic) and B has one beer and stops there. Now, the Bible tells us not to be drunkards, so drinking for A is a sin while B is not a drunkard, so for him, it is not. Now it would also be a sin for B to tempt A into drinking.

What's my point? As long as the lord isn't laying these shows against your conscience, and you aren't watching these shows with (or in front of) your friend, and are not having impure thoughts while watching, you're not being immoral. I would say to stay away from this topic when talking with your friend and just agree to disagree.

My two cents:

Scrubs is off the air and I'm won't miss it much. I can take it or leave it.

Smallville is ok I guess. We know it's fiction and shouldn't take it so seriously. All things considered, they keep it clean.

Supernatural is not something I would watch at all. I have and didn't like it, which is why I said what I said.

The Shield is too dark for me and I'm concerned about some of the shady things in the storylines. It's the last season for them.

Family Guy is out for me. I wouldn't recommend it for Christians at all.

"Scrubs" ~ I love it! A favorite of my wife and I.
"Smallville" Being a superman fan I hate it, it's nothing like the comic book.
"Supernatural" Great show. I've only seen a few episodes a buddy of mine is going to let me borrow his DVDs of it.
"The Shield" Never seen it.
"Family Guy" Love it! Yes it's pretty lowbrow, but still funny

Now as far as any of the and whether or not a christian should watch it. As a christian you should know what's good and whats bad for you. Use your best judgement, after all if you only want to watch christian TV shows you might as well throw out your TV. I have yet to see much christian TV. (I don't count televangelistic shows because I doubt any of those people are christian.)

Scrubs is one of my favorite sitcoms.

Hardly can follow Family Guy. I feel like the writers have no idea how to write and the story is just a way to randomly string some bits together, although some of the bits are funny.

South Park is a great show.

The best show to ever be on a TV set would be a tie between The Wire and The Sopranos.

You've gotta love that ABC picked scrubs up for an 8th season! :clap

Dont recall it by the title.

One of my favorite episodes is where they are in World of Warcraft. That episode will have you rolling, especially if you have played the game :)

It was abash on Family Guy, Basically manitees take random "ideal balls" and send them down a shoot to create a family guy episode like a lottery (because family guy is so random)

QUICK! WE NEED BENGAY XD

My favorite South Park is All about the Mormons, it's 100% accurate.

Do I think you will lose your salvation for watching these shows? No.

Do I think it shows a certain level of spiritual immaturity and disrespect for God by filling your mind with immorality? Yes. Consider the following:

Romans 13:13 Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.

1 Corinthians 5:11 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler--not even to eat with such a one.

Colossians 3:5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

Psalms 11:5 The LORD tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.

Luke 11:34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness.

Why would you want to pollute yourself with material like in these TV show's when God's word so clearly tells us the contrary?

The only show mentioned originally that I have serious issues with is Family Guy....

Otherwise I am not big on these shows for reasons of profanity, nudity, language, or even the manner in which God or Jesus is mocked within them.

Futurama
American Dad
Simpsons
and almost on the top of the list in my book with Simpsons a close second is South Park.

These shows I try to avoid at all cost and am very tempted not to permit in my home at all.

My appologies for any offense to anyone else's personal taste....I meant none.

May God Bless You

Danielle
