I have an older, wiser, Pentecostal friend...Verna. Back when I was in a residential Christian rehab place, we did an outing to her church. After everythign was over, she came up, talked to me, and put her address in my Bible. I contacted her when I got out of the rehab place (successfully, by God's grace) and we've been in touch ever since.

OK. She lost her husband to cancer a couple years ago. That alone was hard, but she's tough...very solid Christian. She has 2 kids. Neither one of them are living right at the moment and one isn't even calling her...ever. She has a great grandson she's only seen once. Seems like family problems have been swirling around her since her husband passed away...

Please pray for Verna and the rest of her family. I know that in any family there will be Christians and non-Christians alike, I get that. That doesn't make it any easier for Verna or, honestly, me either when she tells me things.

The Lord has blessed her with enough $$$ thru her husband to live a modest, simple, comfortable life. I pray that you also ask God to bless her financially (for some reason, this has been on my mind lately).

Thanks. :-)

Happy Easter!

Thank you for making us aware of a sister in need, and prayers have been going forth for her for some time from me. God is able to keep her, and establish her going whether alone with Him, and not accompanied with fellow sojourners; even her children in the way. It seems that sometimes God separates us unto Himself for special fellowship. What a friend she has been to you, and can you imagine the love our Savior has for her as she has faithfully did His bidding in your life as Jesus' minister, or angel to you? Many times we entertain these angels unawares, but some of God's best work is manifest through them as His messenger to us.

I will add that with the sufferings come the comfort needed; God's power is all sufficient to meet any situation we face. I've often wondered at Job's children being taken, and what it produced. At the end he wound up with twice what he had, and yet only seven children are mentioned there. Yep, seven were in heaven and seven present, and Job had learned to point to God for all his benefit, and no longer look at himself.

Look past the apparent trials in your friend's life and watch for the rewards affecting her & all around her.

Verna remains in my prayers, my friend. She is a shining example to all who come in contact with her, whether in person or through her friends (such as you).

Thanks for letting us know so we can pray for her. It sounds like God is already blessing her financially, and that's a big help to let her focus her prayers and efforts on the other issues.

yeah, with the $$$, I just worry because she's older, a homeowner, stuff comes up...plus she has kids and grandkids who sometimes take a chunk of $$$.
