Very Controversial Song

Okay this song is very very controversial, especially in the Christian Community. I just thought id get your input on this.

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah

(ps- is she about to rape him? She ties him to a chair in the kitchen... thats what it sounds like.)

Samson?

Tied to a chair, cut his hair ... could this be in reference to Samson and Delilah?

Could this song be showing us our failures as humans ... running back to the Lord of Song? Halleluah!?

Some folks can't admit to their failures, we have to be shown sometimes. When faced with our failures, well, some of us are still in denial. Like me when I relapsed on dope, I fell right back into the arms of Jesus Christ.

Me!

Have to fix my words on the above post. Can't cut and paste ... when mentioning this song showing our human failures ... running back to the Lord of Song ... please, I didn't mean for it to sounds like running back to the Lord was a failure on our part. I do apologize if my brain is off course a bit this morning due to a headache. I'm trying =)

Ever heard it? I heard it on the Shrek soundtrack. Absolutely, insanely gorgeous song. I honestly hadn't listened closely to the words. I realized upon listening it didn't sound terribly religious, except the chorus. But wow, is it a gorgeous song.

Listen to it and see what I mean.

Christian music today' is singing more about what really goes on in peoples everyday lives. And people are identifying more with it, because it meets them where they are. And younger people are getting more into Gospel because of it.

Umm, thats not a christian song.
I will agree that' that one isn't. But a lot of them are, and the old time church says they are not. Because if it is not Pass Me Not Old Gental Savior, or Amazing Grace it is not Gospel, but they are wrong.
