I don't mess with most of them. But that's just my personal taste, not a command I am quoting from God in His word.
There is a lot to be said about the power of what we surround ourselves with. If I see the game as being a challenge of, perhaps beating the computer and increasing my mental reflexes, etc, and I'm not addicted to it, I don't think there is a problem. BUT, if the attraction is the desire to fantasize about murder, theft, or whatever other bad things are portrayed, I think that is a problem. And for many people, this is exactly the attraction. But the problem is not the video game. But the problem is more in the mental and spiritual state of the person that likes fantasizing about these bad things than it is in the game itself.
Does anyone else have an opinion either for or against playing violent video games (like Call of Duty)?
Or does anyone have Scripture to back their opinion?
I used to play these kinds of games a lot... Does anyone (a Christian) have a defense FOR playing these games?
Is real life "violent"? How about the Bible? Yes violence is a part of this fallen world. Now, if the game is GLORIFYING violence there may be an issue, but violence in and of itself is not an automatic "bad thing" to have in multi-media.
