Beautiful photos, looks about like where I grew up in New England.

Is the dog in your avatar a pit bull?
.Yes .........His name is Roscoe............I was ask to keep him for a couple weeks so the hoodlums wouldn't get him. That was five years ago.......I am beginning to think they are not coming back to get him.

He's a handsome fellow.
I thought he was a pit because my daughter's fiance has one that looks a lot like him, just different coloring. Her name is Nala and she is a sweetheart. She spends quite a bit of time at our house during the week while Chris is working.
Yours and Roscoe's story sounds a lot like Nala and Chris'. A friend and his girlfriend came to visit from out of state. They left Nala, supposedly for a few days, but then didn't come back to get her. That was over six months ago. But she is very happy with all of us. I was somewhat worried because of her breed but I think she will be OK, she likes everyone and she likes other dogs a lot, too.
She hadn't been trained at all but she's smart and has caught right on to commands so now she heals rather than dragging a person all over, doesn't jump on us anymore, etc. But I can't seem to get her to stop trying to sit in my lap, she's just too big to be a lap dog. :)
