Consider with me the following scriptures found in the New Testament:
Ephesians 6:10-13: These and many other verses in the Bible ( 2 Cor. 10:4, 1 Timothy 6:12, 2 Timothy 2:3) indicate that we as believers are involved in warfare. A conflict that is spiritual in nature. But our enemy is not people as verse 12 points out. Ouur enemy is the unseen spiritual powers of darkness, the devil and his demonic accomplices. Whatever you may believe about spiritual warfare you need to know that we are involved in it.
This war affects every area of your life. There is no way you can avoid it. If you are a Christian that is alive on planet earth there is no way you can avoid the conflict. There are a lot of believers that don't even know they're at war., and yet the casualities of the conflict are all around us. Some Christians are emotional victims of spiritual warfare. They are discouraged, depressed, and defeated.
Others are marriage and family casualities. Divorce and abuse have left their mark on many. Still others have been morally wounded in the battle. As a result, they've made poor moral choices, and many failed tto control their passions. It's hard enough to fight an enemy you can see. It's much harder to fight someone you can't see. Just as Almighty God has holy angels that do His bidding, so Satan has at his disposal evil angels, or demons, that carry out his attacks against us. They are spirit beings, and therefore are invisable. But they are very real and are at work to carry out Satan's programm which is to steal, to kill and to destroy ( John 10:10).
You and I are no match for the power and deceptiveness of Satan and his army. We need the power of God in order to stand against the attacks of the enemy. Human strength will not get the job done. Many believers are suffering defeat in spiritual warfare because they're trying to fight Satan in their own power. The devil is not afraid of you and me. But He can't stand up against God for one second. That is why Paul wrote, Be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor oof God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil ( Eph. 6:10-11).
It is when God fights the battle for you, not when you fight the battle for you, that you win against the enemy. This may be hard to take but the facty is a lack of victory in the spiritual battle reflects a lack of understanding of the divine resourses of heaven available to us. Victory is found in total dependence upon God, and on our willingless to use what He has provided for us. It's timed we learn to wage victorious spiritual warfare using the weapons God has given to the Church. Can I have an Amen. Hello, are you listening?
Our problem today is that we have too many Christian civilians and not enough Christian soldiers. Some only want to jump into a soldiers uniform when we run into a problem. But we must understand that we are soldiers who are supposed to be in uniform at all times because we are in a war.
But the good news about this war it's a war that has already been won. Our commander-in-chief, the Lord Jesus defeated principalities and powers and even Satan himself 2,000 years ago. But we as the Body of Christ, the Church, must enforce the Defeat Jesus put on the enemy when He was raised from the dead. Thank God, Jesus defeated the devil with a bloody cross and an empty tomb!!!!! Can I have an Amen? Glory be to God
After His resurrection, Jesus delagated His very own power to the Church. Every one of you has power over all the works of the enemy. The devil has no power ovrer the Church. You as a believer are the Church! Jesus said, upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates ( authority0 of hell shall not prevail against it ( Matt. 16:18). We are the Church Jesus was talking about. A Church the devil doesn't have a chance against. This is good news, Huh. Lets give a big AMEN to our Lord Jesus Christ. Glory be to God.
