Wake up Church

Consider with me the following scriptures found in the New Testament:

Ephesians 6:10-13: These and many other verses in the Bible ( 2 Cor. 10:4, 1 Timothy 6:12, 2 Timothy 2:3) indicate that we as believers are involved in warfare. A conflict that is spiritual in nature. But our enemy is not people as verse 12 points out. Ouur enemy is the unseen spiritual powers of darkness, the devil and his demonic accomplices. Whatever you may believe about spiritual warfare you need to know that we are involved in it.

This war affects every area of your life. There is no way you can avoid it. If you are a Christian that is alive on planet earth there is no way you can avoid the conflict. There are a lot of believers that don't even know they're at war., and yet the casualities of the conflict are all around us. Some Christians are emotional victims of spiritual warfare. They are discouraged, depressed, and defeated.

Others are marriage and family casualities. Divorce and abuse have left their mark on many. Still others have been morally wounded in the battle. As a result, they've made poor moral choices, and many failed tto control their passions. It's hard enough to fight an enemy you can see. It's much harder to fight someone you can't see. Just as Almighty God has holy angels that do His bidding, so Satan has at his disposal evil angels, or demons, that carry out his attacks against us. They are spirit beings, and therefore are invisable. But they are very real and are at work to carry out Satan's programm which is to steal, to kill and to destroy ( John 10:10).

You and I are no match for the power and deceptiveness of Satan and his army. We need the power of God in order to stand against the attacks of the enemy. Human strength will not get the job done. Many believers are suffering defeat in spiritual warfare because they're trying to fight Satan in their own power. The devil is not afraid of you and me. But He can't stand up against God for one second. That is why Paul wrote, Be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor oof God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil ( Eph. 6:10-11).

It is when God fights the battle for you, not when you fight the battle for you, that you win against the enemy. This may be hard to take but the facty is a lack of victory in the spiritual battle reflects a lack of understanding of the divine resourses of heaven available to us. Victory is found in total dependence upon God, and on our willingless to use what He has provided for us. It's timed we learn to wage victorious spiritual warfare using the weapons God has given to the Church. Can I have an Amen. Hello, are you listening?

Our problem today is that we have too many Christian civilians and not enough Christian soldiers. Some only want to jump into a soldiers uniform when we run into a problem. But we must understand that we are soldiers who are supposed to be in uniform at all times because we are in a war.

But the good news about this war it's a war that has already been won. Our commander-in-chief, the Lord Jesus defeated principalities and powers and even Satan himself 2,000 years ago. But we as the Body of Christ, the Church, must enforce the Defeat Jesus put on the enemy when He was raised from the dead. Thank God, Jesus defeated the devil with a bloody cross and an empty tomb!!!!! Can I have an Amen? Glory be to God

After His resurrection, Jesus delagated His very own power to the Church. Every one of you has power over all the works of the enemy. The devil has no power ovrer the Church. You as a believer are the Church! Jesus said, upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates ( authority0 of hell shall not prevail against it ( Matt. 16:18). We are the Church Jesus was talking about. A Church the devil doesn't have a chance against. This is good news, Huh. Lets give a big AMEN to our Lord Jesus Christ. Glory be to God.

May God bless, golfjack

Well, Yeah. You can have an Amen... but it is wanting so bad to come out like "Duh, No joke..."

But then, you know that is coming from a front line soldier.

Amen, to golfjacks post!
Gabby, I would love to hear your full testimony if you feel comfortable giving it. I have a feeling it would be pretty awesome.

It is awesome. And no, I don't feel comfortable giving it, at least, not here. Reasons being, first, that as long as the people who have caused it are running free, causing others to have awesome testimonies as well. And second, it is rare to find a Christian who is willing to pray for justice against the wicked.

The Lord told me many years ago that the world would rather have what the mafia has to offer than what Jesus Christ has to offer. That is why the wicked continue. The prayers of the saints could overcome what the world wants. So, in addition to praying for justice, I am also praying what golfjack posted. WAKE UP CHURCH!

Amen, golfjack. That was a great post, I'm always trying to keep the points you made in my mind but often I forget them because of other things in life.

The devil has been a major antagonist in my life and this year I have accepted the power of God so that I may stand up strongly and fight against him.

God bless.

But justice WILL prevail in the end, Gabby. I just can't figure out where you're coming from. What more do you want ...?

But justice WILL prevail in the end,

Oh, something a little quicker. Something that will keep them from giving you an awesome testimony such as mine. I pray that never again will someone live a life such as mine. Yet I am watching one generation after another doing just that.

I just can't figure out where you're coming from. What more do you want ...?

Gee Sput, it would be nice to be able to ask for prayer to stop the kidnappers, rapist and murders without being called names for doing so. Check some of your previous post, if I lost you on that one.

Gabby, dislike me if you will (you may have to take your place in line on this forum ;-) ) but checking my previous posts will not remove the bitterness that you carry around inside of you. That can't be good for you or anyone else. I'm serious and am not trying to belittle you. While I AM very opinionated (hmmm ...not that you would notice :o ) I am NOT a bad person. So, please don't take out on me what may have happened to you in your life. My life has not exactly been a bed of roses either.

Did I ever call you a name for asking for prayer ...? By all means pray for justice but not revenge ...pray that you'll be relieved of the burden that is so obviously dragging you down, pray for us all since most of us are caught up in this tragedy of a world, pray for the soon return of Jesus Christ before only the very elect are 'hanging in' ...whew ...there is SO MUCH to pray for.

Thanks for your post.

Hi all!

Right from reading the OP, God reminded me that the illustration of Olympic athletes in training is also used to encourage us

& if you combine the soldier with the athlete, it is helpful to see the work of God's Spirit, indwelling all who love Jesus, as the work of a Coach/Instructor

Whenever we make a mistake, He wants to draw us closer to God, to make us more like Christ & to give us God's comfort so that we can pass it on to all in any kind of trouble

You can best see those 3 elements in 2 Corinthians 1:2-4, James 1:2-4 & 2 Peter 1:2-4

2 Corinthians 1:2-4 (New International Version)

2Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The God of All Comfort

3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

James 1:2-4 (New International Version)

Trials and Temptations

2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

2 Peter 1:2-4 (New International Version)

2Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

Making One's Calling and Election Sure

3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Today's Scripture

I will lead them...

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD:
and he delighteth in his way.
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down:
for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

Psalm 37:23,24 KJV

Weekly Meditation

You are my witnesses

"You are my witnesses," declares the LORD,
"and my servant whom I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe me
and understand that I am he.
Before me no god was formed,
nor will there be one after me.

I, even I, am the LORD,
and apart from me there is no savior.

I have revealed and saved and proclaimed-
I, and not some foreign god among you.
You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "that I am God.

Yes, and from ancient days I am he.
No one can deliver out of my hand.
When I act, who can reverse it?"

Isaiah 43:10-13 NIV

Before I forget, in process of printing those passages, Gabby, I really felt your pain in those posts

Vital to victory in combat - physical or spiritual - is balance

Prayer for justice needs the spirit of forgiveness, just as Christ forgave us our sins, to avoid being captured by the spirit of bitterness, that has harmful FX on our bodies, minds, emotions & relationships - growing ulcers & risking burst blood vessels, nervous breakdowns or heart attacks, etc, helps no-one, yes?

Dunno if anyone saw that film docu @ The Who on ITV4 last night, but it reminded me of moving, as a small child, to a violent housing estate, in the middle of the Teddy Boy gang war are (mid-'50s UK)

I'm sure anyone who's had dear friends & relatives raped & murdered suddenly comes up against reminders like that, of things long past, & has to say, "Lord, I can't do anything about that, except ask You to help me forgive the way You have forgiven my sins, & avoid the 'root of bitterness springing up to defile many"

Must go!

God bless!

Right again. The Spirit of God is indeed at work in and through you Mr V.
People seem to assume that I am bitter and resentful. I could not hold any bitterness at all and continue to stand in the face of these people day after day. My faith and trust in the Lord has a remarkable cleansing power.

My not holding grudges has not stopped one single crime. My forgiving them is what brings about my healing, keeps my relationship with God right, and is the reason that God keeps me standing.

My faith in God is strong. His power is seen every day, and those people that I deal with every day, who are enemies of the cross, have seen His power.

Sput, if your pastor ever asks you to take on a ministry to help and encourage people who are in need~~~ turn him down. Please.

That's what I call "a hard saying". I saw a book once in a Christian bookstore that was simply entitled, "Hard Sayings of the Bible." I didn't read it all but, that has to be one that's included. May have to go back and purchase that book.

Indeed.
Perseverance
Endurance
Taking up the cross
Long suffering

Hey, did you know that long suffering is a "Fruit" of the Holy Spirit?

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Helping and encouraging people who are in need is one thing, Gabby. Aiding and abetting those who just might be harboring bittterness and/or wallowing in self-pity is another. We have to move on. You evidently haven't been able to do that.

But please don't think badly of me, Gabby. It isn't that I don't care. Anyone who knows me could attest to this.:smt056

By the way, I AM the welfare coordinator of my local church.

Concerning the opening post...

Psalms 56
8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?
9 When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.
10 In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.
11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.
12 Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.
13 For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

I am blessed by David's conclusion in verse 13, and I am always inspired by his resolve to praise God no matter what the affliction. The Lord bless all of you.
