I will be meeting an artist at the veterans island to share my time in country. It will be emotional for me.I have not let myself openly feel that loss, anger, pride in some time but this is a good thing so thar mothers, brothers can understand their sons, and daughters and cross the barrier of the living to touch the deceased to connect.

My dog Cheyenne, ironically,is very connected to my war time as she was a cub then.plenty of her cub, youthful photos are bringing up those memories.

The best thing any Veteran can do is to examine wnat the hell was it?

Before I went to the VA and before they gave me meds for thw ghosts I could not live with it. I began talking with the shrink, then others, and taking the meds and life is much sweeter.

I have a ptsd group. Not affiliated with the va ,but ran buy a former va counselor.

This is for a living memorial thar has sounds, recordings of my era vets statements .this done to tell the story .just as your era has the wall and also the vfw and legion when they lay vets to rest don't wear military uniforms as its a symbol of your service and how you were treated.

Albeit sadly.ours will not have thar going on,we are working on a local military detail for honors .

It's important to leave either written or oral recitations of what military service was about.

The rest of us who don't or can't serve need these reminders, not only to learn, but also to heal. Many lives have been affected by family members or friends who have served.

Thank you, jasonc, for being willing to participate in this effort!

One of three,I meet with Ross tommorow.

How did it go today, jasonc ?
since you know the island to a degree. my avatar is the flag of it. I took this a few weeks ago as I was taken photos of big blue, the barber bridge from the path to veteran's island. the circled x is where the living memorial will go. it will be made of t wall, and have an app that allows you to hear voices of veterans and their statements in one sentence, words that will pop out at you inside it. it will have a solar power system and also will have to be approved. this is the first part of that idea that we talked about and I posted the video of the presentation. the one is where I shot the panorama of big blue and the fingers from, the circle nearby is the flag location. I will shoot this from the alma lee loy bridge which is not to far south and you can see it. View attachment 10965

Understandable, my friend. You've seen a lot during your time with the military and beyond.

Just know there are millions in the US who thank you for all you've sacrificed and experienced, and we love you for being willing to serve.

thanks, i wasn't sure if you would put the video of this and this request together. today was the initial interview. he will interview again and this will , if approved, take a few years to do.

i know have a deep connection to the island, its very quiet there, almost like a veteran cemetary. it was never as such. you know the history of it and the veteran who got it started. i will probably be buy this again an photo the plaque again ,

Yes, I recalled the video.

To do something 'right', it can take a while. Considering the important impact of the project, doing it 'right' is the proper way to do it!

Utilizing the island in this long-term way is amazing. I hope it will be well supported, and visited with proper respect in the coming years.

you have watched the video, alma lee loy who was one who assisted the restoration of the cenotaphs in some of the photos I have in the 60s has said that it will be kept as mcwilliam and the others wanted it.

Who will step into Ms Loy's shoes someday when Ms Loy is gone? She's a powerhouse of sanity and respect.
